Colleges restrict players all of the time.

Is the coach's coaching skills so weak that he's afraid of going up against this player being on another team?
This is his first year  as a head coach, so he is probably trying to give himself an advantage by NOT having to coach against a former player, especially one who might know the playbook.

d.

One who might know the playbook.. OW, you're absolutely correct about this. Plus if you're going to let people come and go as they please might as well not have them sign a contract. Otherwise what is it good for?

I have always felt that if you are not on scholarship then you should have no restrictions.  Get a release and keep it moving.  In conference, then a 1 yr wait.

A kid may just not fit your offense or defense, don't punish him because he is not a good fit.

DOCUMENTED disciplinary issues...different story.  Restrict them all you want.

I concur.
