The Jackson State University Division of Athletics has finalized its 2017 football schedule with the addition of two more games.

The Tigers will travel to Grambling, La., for the first time in four years, to take on the Grambling State Tigers.

In another first for JSU, the Tigers will travel to Mobile, Ala. to play in the second annual 5th Quarter Classic. The Tigers will take on Tuskegee in the non-conference game at Ladd Peoples Stadium.

This is always a great time!  Last year's game weekend atmosphere in Jackson was unbelievable. 

Lesson learned however.  I will NOT wait until the last minute for hotel.  The city and surrounding areas were Sold Out.  That mess of a motel I stayed in was horrible.... Like a Horror movie seriously..

It used to take us about 2 hours but probably a good 2.5 hours.

A lot of folks fly into New Orleans that Wednesday or Thursday then drive up to Jackson. It's cheaper to fly into NOLA than Jackson.

I hope nobody gets a ticket trying to get to Jackson, MS from New Orleans, LA in 2 hours.  At 184 miles distance, one would have to travel at a constant speed of 90-plus miles/hour to cover that distance within 2 hours.  2.5 hours is more realistic, but is still above the speed limit at some constant rate of speed.  A 3 hour trip is closer to the travelling the speed limit at 70 miles/hour. Jackson, Ms and my hometown (Alexandria, LA) is about the same distance from New Orleans.  If hotels are a problem and depending on what direction you are coming from, one might look at Vicksburg MS or Monroe, LA.  Also, Baton Rouge is about 3 hours from Jackson, MS at a little less distance (178 miles) than New Orleans.

I looked at them earlier this afternoon. I just have to look at the flights when I get home. I had to be pay a little under $300 for a flight from DC to Jackson. Connecting flight in Memphis.

I haven't made the trip since undergrad and, yeah, we were always pushing it at 2am.

This is STILL one of the Premiere HBCU football games in the country.  For those that have never attended, you have got to experience it first hand.
