Mike said they do not need money for the basketball program or to fund other programs in regards to starting the season with all the road game which normally are seen as money games. He says he only does it to help kids get to play places they normally would not

16 straight road games still seems a bit excessive. something's still a bit off about this.

Well, our "road game" tomorrow night is 3.6 miles away from our campus.

A lot of our kids see it as an opportunity to see the world.

He owes the fanbase 2 non-conference home games per year at worst

They are too good of a program to spend that much time on the road for fans to see the same SWAC teams yearly

So many kids play AAU ball now and travel extensively with their teams... Where are they going that they've never been? Seems a little strange...

Wouldn't be surprised if his contract allows him to keep a percentage of revenue secured from OOC road games.

In AAU they are playing in high school gyms and mostly traveling within a close radius and at the end of the summer some go to Vegas.

They aren't playing in Delaware, Philly, Tucson (Arizona), Louisville, LSU PMAC, or at Baylor in AAU ball.  Totally different experience.  Plus they will win a few of these games.  6 of these games are within a 4 hour drive from campus.

We beat Rice last night 71-68.

If you look at our schedule (pre-conference) you'll notice it's not all about the big time money guarantee games:

Up next we have La Salle, James Madison, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arizona, Southern Illinois, Louisville, Cincinnati, LSU, TCU and Baylor.  So far we've played UT-Arlington, Delaware State and Rice then we get into conference play with our first three games on the road (Alcorn, Southern and PV).
