In attending the game on Saturday, which I am an avid giving alumni and supporter, that has attended many games since I was child; I was taken aback on Saturday by the lack of performance from the BMMB. I know that they are small, and that was seen and heard at the Labor Day Classic against Miles.
However, on Saturday as the team was making a comeback, the band played little to nothing. There were no beats to go along with the cheers from the cheerleaders and when asked from the crowd to play something that say there like a deer caught in headlights. I did see a gentleman yelling for them to play and going down to talk to one of the guys in a blazer and khaki pants, but to no avail did they play. And the gentleman that went down, was the same gentleman that was trying to get money from the alumni to give to the band.
Size doesn't matter in terms of motivation and getting the crowd amped. If they want people to give them money for support, donations, etc., they have to sell themselves. It's not the BMMB that I am use to seeing at games. They didn't even jam coming off the field, and come to think of it, they didn't even stay around after the Miles game to battle a little. A sad time for the BMMB. But I'm a believer things will get better. And you can't keep pointing the finger at the past, you have to pick up and move on.
