I'm glad to see this. We love to put down Black  millennials  for not getting it but when they stand up for themselves we question that.

I read some of the comments on ESPN. com. Typical white tears like "mountain out of molehill" take their schoolys" "give them to white players" blah blah blah.

I hope this movement grows to other schools. Too many Black athletes seem removed from the average Black student  life at major PWI's.

So true!

Ken, I don't feel sorry for these dudes. I've definitely said that on Facebook in a group that they should return to HBCU. But, that's not happening. You wanted to go to a PWI because you didn't want to put up with the disparity and the negativity of our institutions, well fine, go ahead be called a n----r to your face and all other types of disparaging remarks and disenfranchisement.

that's all...    :tiptoe:

This is such BS and nonsense. This whole BS narrative needs to stop.

I stand by the same comments that I made when Harold Jackson was first hired and that is he shouldn't have ever been hired in the first place! This man was a failure as ahead coach 20+ years ago, and never been anything more than a position coach throughout his career and had nothing indicating that he would be a good head coach at JSU. On top of that we paid him more than Coach Comegy. Folks if you're gonna fire a championship coach, you better dayum well make sure that you have somebody signed up who's better and we didn't do that. We fired coach C and didn't have a plan at all. What scares the hell out ta me is that the same folks who hired Jackson are going to be the same folks who will oversee this hire unless we find an AD asap.

Sports Forum / Re: FAMU should consider SWAC move, say consultants

Being number 6 in attendance for HBCUs is not bad during a down year.

Considering our tumultuous season on and off the field last year, that's an impressive number.  It's still higher than 90% of the conference including four out of five MEAC football co-champs.

As far as deficits, there isn't one FCS athletic program that didn't operate one last year.  So FAMU's "problems" are not unique.  They are consistent with NCAA statistical trend.  Furthermore, D2 is not an option because revenue would actually decrease (no more BCS or NCAA tourney distribution money) and the NCAA statistical trend is that expenses exceed revenue on that level, too.  Similar to FCS, zero D2 programs operated without a deficit last year.

And here it is.  Some folks act like FAMU is not ready for the SWAC.  Bless their hearts.  I hope FAMU stays in the MEAC, it is a great school.

Nobody ever stated that FAMU was not ready for the SWAC, we stated that with the problems that they've been having as far as APR and the athletic department, so right now they're not all that appealing. We already have APR issues that we’re trying to clear up, we don’t want to add another school with Alabama State type potential and the same type of constant negative press.

With that being said, the MEAC should just go ahead and split into 2 divisions without a champ game like the old caa model a few years back.  In the event of a tie, they can send the most attractive rep to ATL.  Plus the format would help members save on expenses.  Everybody wins.

The commish is desperately trying to find another member so he can do that.

Wouldn't Virginia State be the most logical choice?

Why all this hate on famu?  It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

No hate, folks are just stating facts.

Thanks for sharing. I have been in Alabama for over 20 years and not one black person I know from here has ever mentioned this part of Alabama. I will be making my way to this area as soon as I find out where it is. Blacks in BAMA are different. This is history. They would rather discuss AU and UA. sad!

True! My wife's parents are originally from Pritchard so I learned about Africatown from them. But yes, they're the only ones that I've ever heard discuss this place.

FAMU will be o.k. in a pwc conference.

FAMUs athletic program is a proverbial dumpster fire right now. They're not even doing "OK" where they are right now.

I'm in there, and anyone who considers themselves an HBCU football fan thats able to come should be there too. We have the big stage on ABC which is something that the PWCs on our level do not have, take advantage of it or shut up about the things wrong with HBCU sports.

Something other PWCs don't have?  If this is the only reason why we should shut up I would.  If y'all want me to come, tell me the pay-outs and also, my school needs to come out in support of this game.  Until then I am sticking with my opinion.

my point remains the same. Come or dont, thats up to you. But nobody has given me any logical reason not to support this game. I'm supporting it no matter who makes it. Hell if we don't support our own then dammitt who will?

« on: June 08, 2015, 02:56:40 PM »
Does this mean that Texas Southern is not playing College of Faith at all next season?  Why play Southern when you know that will game will have a huge attendance due to the Jaguar Nation coming to Houston?

No, we are still playing College of Faith next season.

Typically, you never give up two pay days (homecoming & Southern) and combine them however due to new developments the university decided to combine the two for the upcoming season on a trial run.

Wait.....yall signed a two year contact with them? :brickwall:

No, the only thing Asberry signed was to whip their a**  so he could try to extend his contract.

There is no way they should be on yall schedule next season, Im pretty sure the NCAA stance on scheduling has to be grounds of terminating the contract right
