Politics / Re: OBAMA 2011 STATE OF THE UNION - COMMENTS?
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:29:29 AM »
It was a very measured and tempered speech for the current political enviroment...

IT was a gut check too many...The president said the US faced a changed world, adding: "The rules have changed. In a single generation, revolutions in technology have transformed the way we live, work and do business.

He threw salt in the GOP game...and he delivered a nice nasty little note...you wanna play games, ok so let's take it to the playground....
"I've heard rumors that a few of you have some concerns about the new health care law," Obama joked. But on a serious note, he told Republicans, who have repealed the measure in the House and hope to do the same in the Senate, that he would accept changes in the bill, but would veto efforts to roll back the law. "Instead of re-fighting the battles of the last two years, let's fix what needs fixing and move on," Obama said.

I have told my sons at 17 and 18 to strap up, use condoms,” Luther said. “Times are harder now than when I was coming up. A child can be a setback if you are not prepared.”

Also it is the new method a lot of young girls rely on for income nowadays...

my question is why?  Shouldn't she just change from Republican to Independent...

The repeal of the 1099 reporting rule is not a big stretch in the repeal movement initiated by Republicans, who voted in the House Wednesday to scrap the whole law. Even the White House wants to scrap what has been widely criticized as a paperwork nightmare, and the Treasury Department has already taken action to limit its scope.

So what is newsworthy about this, this should be a no-brainer or is it because you have three Senate Democrats that agree with the White House and Treasurery Department on this part of the bill, help me out Y I am not clearly understanding. This has nothing to do with the Healthcare Reform Bill as a whole.

I just wish that the Atty Generals would not waste their state tax payer monies on a frivilous claim to score points politically with the base/media when they lack a clearer understanding of Interstate Commerce Law.  Most Atty Generals are proficient in Criminal Law and run on that type of platform and they are not very good in Corporate/Tax or other types of laws...GA Former Atty General Thurbert Baker was a rare breed, he was very good.

Well it may not have been the most politically savvy thing to say, but it was the truth. Most Communist Parties leaders are Dictators.

OK, now can you get on with governing. I do not want to see the Party of NO, now turning into the Party of Revenge.   :brickwall:

Now, we can start another topic about parental responsibility and I would enjoy that.

Twin: you are absolutely right, but then again those who offer the scholarships and mentoring programs, etc. Need to do some self checking as well. They need to take time to look in the mirror.  You cannot be self-righteous and dogmmatic when you are approaching the students and you cannot simply targert the low-income areas with an air of superioty.  Today's students are smarter and more aware of their situations and surroundings than a lot of the aforementions groups realize; as a Mentor, a dedicated and involved Fraternity member (with our youth), a community investor(meaning I invest in the community I live in) and a dedicated ASU Alum, I am constantly surrounding by those with that mentality of I have arrived and instead of reaching out to help, they reach down to assist.  Then for some reason it is these type of person's who get on the schoarlship committee's and they revert back to tearing down the students before they can build them up.  Not realizing that times have changed and it takes a more generous and dedicated effort to reach today's students.

The issue with Clayton County had nothing to do with the curriculum, but everything to do with the dummies at the helm....

VG: that is the main problem that I just cannot seem to grasp. Schools systems bout to shut down, because the darn School Board cannot get it together. I mean if it was curriculum based I will be like wow, but this is sb...bs....
