Right now I think Zoe Saldana may be at the top of the list as far as getting work.

General Discussion Forum / Re: moral issue - not mine
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:43:22 PM »
Just want to see from those with real estate dealings, is there anything in buying/selling on a short sale would create a "moral" dilemma?  Person tries to be religious in the their dealings.

What a great topic!! From a owner/seller standpoint there are numerous passages in the bible that says we are to pay our debts.  If you have not tried every means possible to pay your mortgage debt then yes, I beleive there is a moral issue there.
The bible also speaks against profiting from the misery or misfortune of others. I think it just depends upon the situation and your intent.  As my passa would say if you get a check in your spirit then perhaps you shouldn't do it.

2011 Subway Runs Past McDonald's Chain

By JULIE JARGON
It's official: the Subway sandwich chain has surpassed McDonald's Corp. as the world's largest restaurant chain, in terms of units.

At the end of last year, Subway had 33,749 restaurants worldwide, compared to McDonald's 32,737. The burger giant disclosed its year-end store count in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing late last month.

The race for global dominance is an important one for an industry that's mostly saturated in the U.S. High unemployment and economic uncertainty have battered the restaurant industry in the U.S., and chains are increasingly looking overseas for growth, particularly in Asia.

Julie Jargon explains why McDonald's has lost its title as the world's largest restaurant chain and which rival now holds that distinction.
Starbucks Corp. recently said it plans to triple its number of outlets in China, for example. Dunkin' Brands Inc., parent of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, plans to open thousands of new outlets in China in coming years as well as its first stores in Vietnam in the next 18 months. Subway just opened its 1,000th location in Asia, including its first in Vietnam.

Subway, which opened its first international restaurant in 1984, in Bahrain, expects its number of international restaurants to exceed its domestic ones by 2020, says Don Fertman, Subway's Chief Development Officer. The chain currently has just over 24,000 restaurants in the U.S., where it generated $10.5 billion of its $15.2 billion in revenue last year.

General Discussion Forum / Re: Anyone Drive A Hybrid?
« on: March 06, 2011, 08:07:50 PM »
Thanks Cholly. What you've said is pretty much consistent with what I'm finding out from research. Most of the Hybrid models are performing very well but are over priced. On average I'm finding it will take 6 - 10 years on average to break even from a gas savings perspective. Heck, if I gotta pay $800 for a tune up I might as well keep the benz.

I'm considering trading in for a new vehicle and I don't need another gas guzzler. I'm leaning toward a hybrid but most of em seem overpriced. Do they save you enough in gas to justify the cost?

This article reminds me of my neighborhood and my next door neighbors. They moved in from low income housing into the 5,200 sf house next door, mind you no one in the house works. It wasn't long before we started seeing fights with other neighbors, barbecues on the front lawn, cars coming and going late at night and finally the police showing up every few months.
A couple of years ago the wife and I decided to befriend them and that seems to be working. We tried to show them the value of taking care of thier property by inviting them over to our house for barbeques and other get togethers. The other neighbors have done the same and things seemed to have clicked with them. They now have a yard that's one of the best in the neighborhood and haven't receved a fine from the HOA in a year.  Oh, they still ghetto as heyal but at least it's contained to  mostly inside the house now.

Hell yeah, I'd try it. Our bodies wouldn't be as lactose intolerant to human milk.

2 Somali pirates were killed and 13 captured. They all need to be bought to the US for a swift trial followed by execution.

I like a church that is somewhat orderly and I prefer a pastor who stays on message about Jesus.  I don't need to hear about prosperity, social activism or building new edifices. Our service starts at 10:30 and we're always out by 12. You can praise all you want while the choir is singing but when passa begins his sermon all that stuff has to stop or he will ask an usher to attend to you.

Politics / Re: BLACK AMERICAN DREADS BLACK HISTORY MONTH
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:17:16 AM »
After reading Mr. Marcus's blog I actually understand most of the points he's trying to make; however he strikes me as one who does this purely for show. In fact, he's no different than the very people he's accusing of politicizing Black History Month. He just performs his minstrel show from a different platform.
If he really knew Black History he'd know that the contributions of many good, well intentioned caucasians are recorded and honored. Besides, if the telling of American history was balanced then perhaps there would be no need for a Black History Month.
