General Discussion Forum / Re: 50% of Americans Have Canceled Cable TV
« on: March 07, 2023, 02:23:13 AM »
Uhm, I don't know what y'all are talking about but, I got rid of cable in October and I'm paying HALF of what Spectrum was charging me for essentially the same choices. I would recommend EVERYONE get rid of cable.

Oh but you're new to the world of bait and switch streaming services. Give it a year or so and get back with us.  I started off paying $29 a month. Five years later I was paying $120.  From my understanding the rate increases are going to become more steep because no service has turned a profit 5 years in.

Nah, I did my research on rate hikes and whatnot with these services. I don't expect to pay NEAR the $260 Spectrum was charging me. Currently, I'm saving about $140 per month, compared to when I had Spectrum.

:'(

Former President Jimmy Carter will spend his "remaining time" at home receiving hospice care instead of receiving additional "medical intervention," a statement from the Carter Center reads.

People can debate the effectiveness of his presidency all they want, but there has never been a better MAN to have served in that office.

General Discussion Forum / Re: Freaknik: I didn't know its roots!
« on: February 18, 2023, 12:27:14 AM »
Actually, a MAJOR correction should be made; the article is incorrect with its reference to the first Freaknik being held at Piedmont Park.  It was held at John A. White park just off Cascade.

Correction actually the first Freanik was at Washington Park.

I was just about to post what you did above there. My friends who were at Morehouse in '85 told me it started at Washington park and then MOVED to White Park after the first year.............................after that is when it got out of hand, the time during my Morehouse days ('89 - '93)

American Soul the BET drama about Don will not finish.  Probably a victim of the pandemic.

I was really enjoying that show and wondered why they didn't finish it.

The Bulldogs are currently a serious contender for the NAIA national championship in what has been a continuation of a now two-year run of excellence...

Those of you who went to all black k-12 schools, was the black national anthem sang? I never heard it until I went to college. I think black churches performed it, but I was not there enough to know.

As a matter of fact, yes. I learned it in kindergarten. I knew the words to it before I learned the words to the "Star Spangled Banner". Of course, I attended a Black pre-school and Black elementary school here in Compton.

Nah, it ain't gonna be boring. Again, Disney doesn't do thrill rides. No 200-300 foot roller coasters. All of their coasters are immersive experiences. So, Tron fits right in there. Also, keep in mind you're not riding in a regular car, like most coasters. You're riding on this.................
