Sports Forum / Re: Bama State moves Homecoming from Turkey Day
« on: January 15, 2020, 08:40:02 PM »
So will they still be having the Turkey Day classic at all?

from the AD in the article   "....By moving Homecoming to a different date, our fans will now have the opportunity to take part in three big home contests with the Labor Day Classic and the Turkey Day Classic."

Thanks.  I missed that quote.

Sports Forum / Re: I’ve been telling y’all Roy Williams is a fraud
« on: January 15, 2020, 08:13:47 AM »
He’s had disappointing years for sure.   Truth be told he is feeling the effects of the one and done rule like a lot of them.  They have to find the balance between getting the All Americans and solid players who will stay for 4 years.  It is becoming increasingly difficult and the model will need tweaking.

They recruit two years out or something right?  He’s supposed to have the top class in 2020.  If he continues a downward trend then we shall see, but at this point to call him a fraud is a bit much considering he’s 3 years removed from a National Championship and 4 years and a buzzer beater removed from Having 4 titles instead of 3.

???

Why is it no one wants to defend Williams comments out of his mouth? Fraud or not he threw his team under the bus..... in public

Why should anybody have to?   The premise of the post was about him being a fraud, not throwing his team under the bus.

What do you want people to say about it exactly?  Yeah, he said it? Ok.   He said what he said. Nobody’s trying to defend it.   Still doesn’t make him a fraud coach.

He’s not a fraud.  He’s a good coach.  Yes he’s had All Americans -hell he’s supposed to - it’s Carolina.   Blue blood programs get blue blood talent.  His program isn’t the only one to get them -it’s not like the other teams are getting his scraps - no they get elite athletes too.   Yet Roy has won multiple titles since being at Carolina.

He would be a fraud if he had blue blood talent and consistently underachieved, and he has had constant success.   A fraud would be someone who constantly got put out in the first round every year.    In his coaching career this man has been to the final four 9 times and has won 3 championships since 2003 - that’s an average of about once every 5 years.  Do you know how hard that is to do?   Other teams with similar talent haven’t been able to do that.

His win/loss/championship record is comparable to Coach K, so if Roy is a fraud so is Coach K, and I KNOW coach K isn’t a fraud.

It’s a down year nothing more nothing less.  He has a top recruiting class in 2020 and in the next year or two he will be back to competing.  So what if he doesn’t make the tournament this year - it happens.

 ::)

I’m just waiting on the recaps at this point. ::)

I didn’t see the last 2-3 episodes before the break because I truly was tired of where the story arc was headed.   That’s why when I saw it last week, it wasn’t bad because I had not seen it before - I’ve only seen it from Dre’s perspective.

I have no desire to look at Paz for a whole damn hour.  ::)  They should have done Paz and Saxe in one fell swoop.

I would hate for Power to go out like a sucker.  If it does I probably wouldn’t watch another Courtney Kemp production ever.

She’s always been annoying to me.   Her voice, talking like she has a mouth full of spit, and her commentary is just nerve wracking.   Hell I can’t stand The Real period.  It’s a Wal Mart version of The View.  If they cancelled it I wouldn’t shed not one single solitary tear.

Her physical appearance isn’t what keeps black men away.  There are plenty of men that love Big Girls, marry them, and procreate.   Methinks it’s her personality and irritating voice moreso than her physical appearance.   I’m sure she can pull a black man, problem is keeping one.

I think what has happened is she probably thought her mild celebrity status could get her to pull the Idris Elbas, Chadwick Bozemans, Michael B Jordan’s of the industry (or at least their watered down doppelgängers), and now she stayed in her league and got her non famous chubby white KANG and thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread.  Baby there were plenty of black men that would have treated you just as good, but if you’re happy with him then I am too.

Newsflash chick - they ALL cheat, at the SAME rate.   Black men do NOT have the monopoly on cheating.  You’re in an industry with tons of rich powerful white men and you think they don’t cheat?  Girl sit down some damn where and be glad somebody will put up with your lazy tongued @zz ::)

Alabama is stuck behind time. The good ole boys don't care either. They push abortion and religious bills. Not education, infrastructure or health care.

What is wrong with Alabama, didn't they get a couple of auto plant over the years to spur the economy?  Is it the lack of a robust university/educational system?

The only difference between a GA good Ol boy and an AL good Ol boy is this:

An AL good Ol boy doesn’t want you to have anything  and wants it all to himself.

A GA good Ol boy doesn’t mind if you have a little something, just as long as he has more than you, and if he can use you to make more for him, he will allow it.  But if you start getting too big the britches, they’ll shut it down - unless you used to play for the Bulldogs - then you’re kinda “different”.

Very fascinating interview. Go back and watch the first 10 parts.

You watch Vlad TV, too?

I watch them.    I learn a lot, even though Vlad’s interviewing skills annoying sometimes.   He tries to be provocative and messy and the interviewee doesn’t always take the bait, so there is an awkward silence.

But he interviews some interesting people. Morris Day was a good interview.   Matt Barnes,  Willie D, Jalen Rose, DC Young Fly, Luenell, and Nick Cannon were all good interviews.

Morris Day was very interesting too.  One of my favorites.

Yes, he can be annoying and messy. T.K. Kirkland is the best character to me on Vlad.  Also, my favorite Podcast is "Up In Smoke" featuring Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on YouTube.

He interviews TK Kirkland and Lord Jamar once a month it seems like.   They STAY on VLADTV

I’m gonna have to check out the Showtime Series.  Thanks y’all.

Cap Prince was a genius and he was controlling, but I loved him.  Minneapolis had really good talent now that I think about it.

Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson, Alexander O’Neal - they all did well after leaving Prince, especially the first two.   Jesse was talented musically - just didn’t get the shine the others got.

Nobody would have taken Minneapolis seriously had it not been for Prince though.

Morris Day was a great musician too.  He didn’t sing that well, but hell even he knew that - he never wanted to be the lead singer - Prince told him to be.

And y’all lay off Geminis.   We are versatile that’s all :)

Sports Forum / Re: 2019 BLACK COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: THE DEBATE
« on: December 26, 2019, 04:45:42 PM »
There's no reason to debate.  The CB was won by NCAT.
The CB does not necessarily determine the HBCU national champions

Exactly.  What if Tennessee State has a phenomenal team
one year?  They don’t play in the Celebration Bowl.

and the same could be said for hampton. but c'mon, neither tennessee state nor hampton had impressive seasons this year.  so they're not a factor this year, nor have they been a major factor any of the years since the cb has existed...

Their prowess on the field in the past few years does not negate what Que said.  What he said was that it isn’t the official way to determine the Black College National
champion.

It can be a measure, but it’s not necessarily automatic.  That’s all he said.

TROLLS are like kids, if you don't give them attention, they act out and try to seek your attention, by any means necessary.

So remember Onnidan, if you happen to encounter a TROLL, just remember they don't EXIST in your world.

Merry Xmas :)

Total truth.   There are a few here I have not acknowledged in YEARS, even if they responded  directly to me.  I don’t make it a practice go click on posts they start and  rarely do I read what they post in others threads.

I started out with Magic shave powder, then moved to their cream depilatory.

I later switched to using Gillette razors (Mach III and then Fusion). Used shave gel for a few years and then moved to the soap and brush technique. About 4 years ago I began using razors and now use the Bevel with disposable double edged blades. Couldn’t be happier.

Magic Shave.  That’s exactly what it was.    :)

Miss small stuff like this.  If only I could see my daddy shave his face one more time -‘forgive me y’all - just get triggered this time of year thinking about my daddy  :'(
