There is such a shortage in Charlotte that people line up in front of the Academy sports at 7 AM before the store opens at 9 AM to try to get ammunition.
I am loaded five boxes of 9MM for my P365 conceal carry piece and five boxes of .45 caliber rounds for my Glock and a box of 12 gauge shotgun shells for my old pump shotgun (Family Heirloom).

Lemme just say, I am not a soft target.

Not being combative, but define success.

There’s quite a few successful people on Onnidan.
M&G,
There are a lot of successful people all over but only few schools that truly open doors. Those opened doors can lead to opportunities for success.

Sidwell Friends creates opportunities that put people in positions for success.

Oh...Nevamind....

Elite prep schools definitely help students get into elite colleges, however, there are only a few elite colleges that truly pave the way to success. (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Cal Tech, Stanford and a few others).

« on: March 29, 2021, 01:08:46 PM »
The reactions to Prime should surprise no one.  I knew it would be only a matter of time.  Afterall, no one can come in and shine or make news, or bring attention unless they have been vetted by the HBCU old farts!  You know the ones that like to say they know whats best for HBCU's but never seem to move them up or away from the place they have been forever.  Old people may be wise but they have a hard time with a new way of doing things and that is exactly what Prime is doing....things in a new way that for now seem to be getting attention. After all who is the posting all about? ::)

Exactly we have to think of our schools and programs in the same lense as they do their athletic abs academic programs. Excellence without excuses. We should compete with them in our recruitment of high caliber athletes. He went after 3, 4 and 5 star athletes and made the business case for why they should select Jackson State over other universities and he won several of those recruiting battles.
Why would we hate on that? .

Don’t like it, do better and demand better of your athletic program. I certainly have!

Here are my two cents! Coach Prime Time has established an expectation of excellence without excuses.

While his methods are unconventional and his ego is sometimes unbearable he has furthered the discussion of “Why Not Us”!

That’s something that we should all expect from our academic and athletic programs.

I have my first colonoscopy scheduled for December 29th. COVID test done, prescription filled. Just waiting for the appointment.
Our health is very important and I’m really glad to hear that we can openly discuss this important health screening.

Exceptional acting and a well written screenplay. Viola Davis and Chadwick Bozeman were phenomenal!

He’s the worst kind of narcissist. He wants all of the praise (Even undeserved praise) and doesn’t want any blame for the mess he’s created.

November 3rd and January 20th cannot come soon enough!

If he pulls this s**t off November 3rd and January 20th aren't going to matter.
WileECoyote06,
He’s trying to create chaos and present himself as the law and order president. We have to get out and vote in numbers that sends a clear message that the country wants a leadership change.

Sports Forum / Re: ESPN COLLEGE GAME DAY KIRK HERBSTREIT
« on: September 09, 2020, 08:34:04 AM »
Strike, David Pollack is from Snellville which isn't far from Athens that played for Georgia. As I stated in my initial start of this thread, I wasn't surprised by his stoic facial expression during that entire moment of emotional flood gates by Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor. Yes, Desmond was crying. He was wiping away his tears in his subtle way. I thought Rece Davis went to Alabama. I could've sworn he mentioned it on ESPN one time that he went to BAMA, but never brings it up because of any biases. I maybe wrong. I've watched it 3 times and every time I found myself shed a tear because it was heartfelt and genuine. Also, Kirk was on Paul Finebaum yesterday and Paul asked him about that moment. Kirk stated that he didn't know what he was going to say, but he did know he wanted to say the quote from Coach David Shaw of Stanford. He stated that it wasn't planned nor rehearsed when it happened. He just watched the segment live like everyone else and hit him hard.

that's all...
Yogi,
I watched the video several times and I found myself fighting back tears also.

^^^thank both you bruthas (EB and YOGI) for your responses.

I was completely unaware of this whole issue involving Maria Taylor’s round table with the Power 5 ballers, and the ESPN analysts discussion of same, until YOGI started this thread. I normally would have actually seen the season opening episode of Gameday live, but have just not been able to work up the interest and enthusiasm this season with Covid and all.

What REALLY disturbs me about all of this is that along with the ANNUAL exploitation of these young black ballers, now they’ve got to deal with a deadly virus floating around, and the possibility of infecting other students, family members, and friends.

Ok, now your humble poster feels like crying as I mentally attempt to absorb all of these issues.   :'(

The blood that Jesus shed for me....
Strike,
Thank you Brutha. We have had to absorb a lot this year as a community. These last four years have been a weight on all our shoulders. It doesn’t help that president has politicized everything that related to the safe reopening of the country.

Nothing but respect to you!!!!

Eagle Banker^^^read every word of your post. And was not inclined to respond until I read the very last sentence of your post, specifically requesting me to do so. And so here goes:

1) When I mentioned the name of the sistah broadcaster whose name you could not remember, I was simply providing that information for you. There was no other motive involved. Your response reeked of a tad of sarcasm which I did not understand given the reasons I offered the name that I just stated. At a minimum, it illustrates one of the problems with a forum like this where the inability to actually SEE the poster invites unnecessary and unmerited  snide- like comments. But I am ALWAYS pleased when a poster on this board provide information I couldn’t remember at the time of my posting, OR, correct inaccuracies.

2) My comment about not seeing Des Howard “crying” on the clip was NOT intended to impugn your observations, it was simply to state that in the clips I saw of the “zoom” discussion, I simply didn’t see it. So, without question, I accept what you state that you observed Des crying. And I even mentioned in my earlier post^^^that it would be “understandable” if he was “emotional”. To disabuse you of any notions that I was putting forth the typical black male objection to seeing black men “cry,” that was the furthest thing from my mind. During these very trying times for black men (and women) in this country, it is therapeutic and constructive for bruthas TO cry. The alternative is to engage in wanton and violent behavior which, in the aggregate, does not serve black folks best interest. And, finally.........

3) NOTHING in my comments about KH should have been construed to conclude that I questioned his “sincerity”.  I was just STRUCK bY his display of emotions, juxtaposed with the other three white males on the zoom panel. I just wondered, for example, if there was something specific about KH’s background that made him develop some affinity to black people and our hopes, fears and causes. Anyway, at a minimum, Kirk definitely gets the “invite” to the barbeque.

Anyway, boss, am always delighted and cherish the opportunity to “chop it up” with you or any other peep on this board.

Blessings on your day!
Strike,
Banker to Lawyer, I read your response and appreciate your thoughtful and carefully worded reply.
I also reread your first response and recognize the difference in tone. Perhaps my interpretation was based on some of the implications in your statements or based on the sensitive nature of this topic but non the less my perception is my reality.

Be well my friend!!!
