Sports Forum / NCCU Homecoming verses Howard like MEAC Championship
« on: October 31, 2022, 11:16:37 AM »
The NCCU Homecoming game verses Howard will have major MEAC Championship implications. It will be a SHOWDOWN in Durham, NC on November 5th.  Calling all EAGLES to come to the NEST for Homecoming - we need to pack that stadium and the track area for a total of 16,000 people.  We must rock that place for the Ultimate Homecoming Experience...Go NCCU Eagle Nation!

1.  Virginia Union - 3.44
2.  Jackson State - 3.29
3.  Ft. Valley State - 2.44
4.  Langston - 2.00
5.  Fayetteville St. - 1.56
6.  NCCU - 1.50
7.  Albany - 1.44
8.  Tuskegee - 1.06
9.  W. State U. - .94
10. FAMU - .71

FAMU lost to University of North Carolina (FBS) and Jackson State (FCS).  NCCU lost to Campbell and SCSU (both FCS) and SCSU is not even listed in the above poll.  FAMU beat SCSU.  You know that NCCU and any other HBCU's, would have lost to UNC (FBS).  So FAMU has only lost to one team listed and beat another team listed above FAMU (Albany).

Remember that NCCU also beat a ranked FCS Team...Has FAMU beaten a ranked team? I think that win counted for a lot...

They looked like a FBS team
Announcers said they have the #1 recruiting class in all of FCS

Will wake to see what they can do against JSU

Yep, the did have the #1 recruiting class...and their coach has them playing very well. JSU had a top class as well, it will be a very interesting gam. HBCUs can get the talent needed to win. We got to figure out how to get coaches and administrators like this in our programs and give them what they need to win.

"We’re going to change the mindset of the football players," Minter said at his introductory press conference. "They are going to learn that it is no longer acceptable to be mediocre. We are going to create smart and tough football payers, players that can get after it in the fourth quarter."

Minter, a former Carolina Panthers safety, joins Campbell after coaching special teams this past season at Liberty University. Prior to Liberty, Minter was an assistant coach at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.

His record is 39 - 54 in nine seasons.

How does a coach with that record recruit the best class in FCS?
They definitely looked like it, but how does that happen?

They put money in their program.

And how does he recruit them to play in buies creek?

They've made Buies Creek more appealing than Durham.  Which isn't hard to do.

Man, you got Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill in one sweet triangle. Where in the HELL is Buies Creek? I never even HEARD of that town until I found out that some of our HBCUs will be playing them this season! So how would Buies Creek be more appealing than Durham?

They probably market Buies Creek as suburban and outside of Raleigh, NC the state's capital...and Buies Creek is not diverse either and that could be a selling point for some...

Sports Forum / Re: Sports Polls

Polls are polls - no big deal and there are lots of them...some have decent metrics and some are just sheer opinions and guessing...they all sometimes can create good discussions and debate. Nothing to get alarmed about...
Polls are not polls.  Some are list.  Unless you can tell me who and how many had input this is just a one person opinion list.

You can call it a list, a roll or a poll - they all have biases and slanted opinions. And some may be little more calculated than others, but they all have faults...
A poll of one person is not a poll.  Having Ncc at the top or near does not make it legit. This so call poll has been chit since first on posted on this site.

It is not about NCCU...any other HBCU listing or poll would be very similar...not sure what the fuss is about...
