Sports Forum / Re: I’ve been telling y’all Roy Williams is a fraud
« on: January 11, 2020, 07:47:35 PM »
:lmao:

Clemson came into the Dean Dome and ended a 58 game road losing streak vs UNC. I bet ol Dean clawing to get out that grave to return to the bench. Carolina is the joke of the ACC this year....

UNC is having a subpar season, but how does that make Roy Williams a fraud? Surely I don’t need to list his resume.

At this point people who still ask that question are both ignorant and lazy. 1) You have to be living under a rock to be a part of the HBCU world and still not know the four major conferences...but even if you don’t know then 2) it’s far too easy to just take a moment to do a quick google search and you’ll have your answer. In 2020, not knowing is a choice and I’ve just about run out of patience with the willfully ignorant.

I think you might have misunderstood the confusion.  It's not a question about what teams are in the CIAA, but what games count for the conference record.

The CIAA announced back in the summer that every school would play the other 11 schools twice, thus giving a 22 game conference schedule.  It looks like the Chancellors/Presidents didn't officially approve the change so it reverted back to the 16 game conference schedule, where a team plays the teams from the other division only once.  Problem is at that point the schools had already finalized their schedules.  So now for example a school from the Southern Division is playing all the Northern Division schools twice, but only one of those respective games counts as a conference game.  So trying to figure out which game out of the 2 counts is where the confusion has hit.

Egg on my face. Disregard that rant.

Sports Forum / Re: Former NBA Commissioner David Stern dead at 77

He was a solid individual that grew the NBA in more ways than some may realize. RIP.

I remember when he first announced that players would have to dress professionally before and after games. The players and most of Black America were outraged, calling it a “racist” and “discriminatory” policy. Today, it’s basically a competition to see who can dress the nicest on any given night.

Sports Forum / Re: Human Jukebox performing at Lakers halftime

As a band geek myself, it’s always exciting for me to see so many people talking about one. CONGRATS to the Human Jukebox for an extremely productive trip out to LA. Every performance was flawless! Excellent recruiting tool in an area where most people probably have no clue even what an HBCU is. BRAVO!

ESPN is now reporting that a deal has been reached. SMH. I think NYG would’ve been a much better fit but I like the guy so I wish him the best.

If he’s smart he’ll stay far away. Nothing good will come of this.

I really enjoyed the performance but it would’ve been even better with much much less of the announcer. I still don’t understand why they have to talk from start to finish through the show. Other than that, I think it’s great that a west coast crowd was exposed to an HBCU band.

24
I guess the exposure is a good thing but my guys never play well on tv. The way this season is going, as long as they don’t sh*t the bed I’ll take a moral victory.

It feels like they’re making a huge mistake but time will tell. I mean it’s not like us Panther fans aren’t used to our team losing.

Did I hear the BOO birds singing at halftime with the KC Chiefs leading 20-7   :lmao:

Talk about ungrateful mofo's.  I'm no Patroits/Brady/Belichick fan by no stretch, but they're some cold ungrateful m-f'ers up there.

Well, they don’t call em “Massholes” for nothing!

F*ck the Cowboys. The Mavs and Stars are on a roll and SMU is having their best football season in decades. We’ve got plenty here in Dallas to distract us from that dumpster fire.

28
I think Mason at Vandy may join him.

I’m thinking the only reason Mason even lasted this long is because Vandy Isn’t in a position to pay two coaches at once.

29
Then again, if he was chasing a pay day then he definitely accomplished that since both UT and USF still have to cut him a check.

30
Damn. I like him too. I guess he shoulda just stayed at Louisville and rode that wave for as long as he could. Not sure what went wrong at USF but IMO he should have stayed away from that Texas job. He was basically set up to fail from day one.
