Charlotte doesn't want the tourny anymore. Once they miss that money , they will rebid

I hope so. I fully intend to follow the tournament to Baltimore with an open mind (and more importantly) an open wallet. Something tells me though that Charlotte is the best place for the tournament.

I was just talking about this with a buddy of mine. They made no mention of him in the arena and we both thought that was odd.

Congrats Kimberly Anderson and the Lane Lady Dragons

SIAC Tournament Champions

Congrats Coach Anderson! She’s a proud Claflin Alumna!

This one honestly didn't shock me all that much. I hate to say it, but we've seen this before from Morehouse. No use dwelling on it now if you're MHC. Just gotta put your best foot forward and prepare for the big dance. I would like to see one of "us" do some damage this year.

EDIT:
I will say in MHC's defense that it's extraordinarily difficult to win the conference tournament when you've had a dominant regular season. My Panthers have been there before. In 2009, we breezed through the regular season only to get bounced from the tournament by the same LeMoyne-Owen squad we destroyed in the regular season. It's an occurrence that's far more wide spread than the first part of my comment suggests.

Benedict had better better wake up. This game is slipping from their grips.

JC Smith does it again! Second straight game, a buzzer beater in overtime to advance. 83-80 over Claflin. Good game...

Sigh...well it looks like I’m putting all my hope behind the ladies if I want to see my alma mater play tomorrow. Not feeling too confident about that, if I’m being honest. FSU beat our women pretty handily both times during regular season play.

Golden Bulls hit buzzer-beater to eliminate Hawks in OT Thriller

Roddric Ross’ three-point basket with 2.6 seconds left in overtime capped off a rally that saw the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls erase a ten-point deficit in the final 4:44 of regulation to defeat the Chowan Hawks 77-74 Monday night in the opening round game of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s Tournament at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Not a bad way to send Chowan packing to their new conference.  :snicker

Likewise with Claflin eliminating Chowan’s women. Seems apropriate, IMO.

What new conference?

Chowan is joining "Conference Carolinas" in all sports except of football beginning next school year. This is what made Claflin such an ideal school to replace them in the CIAA since we don't field a football team. Good riddance, I say. They were never a good fit anyway.

While I always applaud protesting for what’s right, I can’t help but wonder why these kids chose to attend Ole Miss in the first place. What exactly were they expecting?

Now that the CIAA tournament will be moving to Baltimore and Savannah State is moving back to the SIAC, do Claflin students and alums having any doubts about having moved to the CIAA?

None at all. Baltimore is still a more desirable place to visit than Birmingham. And besides, The CIAA does a far better job with their tournament. We already knew that because most of us have been going to the CIAA for years instead of supporting our own school in the SIAC. The SIAC tournament is dead. No one goes unless they're on the band or a cheerleader and some years even they didn't bother to go. It will always be CIAA>SIAC when it comes to basketball tournaments and that won't change when it moves to Baltimore. I can't promise we'll fill the arena, but there's never been anywhere near this level of excitement about going to anything involving the SIAC. We will definitely be amongst the crowd in one form or another.

I have no idea what to expect from my orange and maroon. Both the men and women have some impressive wins and really bad losses. Hopefully one of them makes it to Thursday since that’s that earliest I can make it to town.

Love this man. He’s done so much not only for Claflin, but for me personally. If it weren’t for him, we’d probably still be an NAIA school. Very sad news. He was a great man and I can truly say that I learned a lot under his leadership!

I’m glad they fired him. He was a terrible GM to begin with but the fact that he didn’t think being petty with the Lakers would come back to bite him in the a**  just reinforces it. Now AD probably hates his organization and he wants out even more than ever.

But there’s still the video and it definitely doesn’t sound fake.

Had to go look it up.  So sad.  Hate seeing fights like this, especially during Black History Month.

Oh wow I didn’t even think of that. Yeah, that’s not a good look.
