OT!!!

are you watching on Flosports?  If so, what are the terms for watching?

I’ve been watching on and off all day. I was already subscribed to the FloSports for marching band. I believe I paid something like $50 for the whole year and that entitles me to any broadcast under the FloSports umbrella. So I’ve also had access to SIAC football and the entire basketball tournament. If I remember correctly, there’s also a cheaper option for a 30 day subscription.

Interesting. So if there are 26 regular season games to be played and 22 of them will now be conference games, that makes me wonder if Claflin will continue to do a home and home with Benedict every year. Is it even worth it? Our students CLEARLY don’t take the rivalry seriously anymore given this year’s abysmal attendance. I would like to see us just play them once a year and use those other three games to get some quality non conference competition.

Cool. Now AB can look forward to losing to the Chiefs and Chargers twice a year. But at least he’s getting paid.
And you think getting paid is a bad thing as opposed to winning and being broke?

No, not at all. But I do think he just left his best chance at winning a SB in Pittsburgh. If that even matters to him at this point.

UPDATE:
And “broke” is a relative term for sure.
So what if he loses? Win did winning at all cost let alone cost to yourself feed your family? Obviously winning isn't a priority for the Rooneys right now. I don't see that same energy directed at them.

Who said anything about winning at all costs? Wanting to play for a playoff contender isn’t winning at all costs. I call that giving a damn about your legacy. And when it comes to the salary, let’s call a spade a spade. AB is a top athlete who’s going to make serious bank no matter where he plays...so let’s not pretend like he was going to be struggling to keep the lights on if he stayed in Pittsburgh. That couldn’t be further from the truth. That’s not me bashing the man making money, I just think it’s pretty ridiculous when people act like athletes of his caliber are LITERALLY struggling to feed their families.

Getting paid isn’t a moral conundrum that AB or anybody in his position has to apologize for or feel bad about.

I never said it was. I’m all for players earning top dollar while they can. I just wanted to see AB go to a team that’s got at least a prayer of making the playoffs.

Next year, he'll have a shorter drive to B'more.  Or he can hop on the train.  The CIAA isn't complete without Mr. CIAA!

The tourney moves to B’More in 2021.

I’m glad he’s ok though. Me and my buddies would have loved to get a photo with him, assuming he’d eventually come out in something orange and maroon.

Interesting. If I’m the AD of a high school, I’d never hire a retired NBA player of his caliber because I know he’s going to walk in my office any day now and slip me his letter of resignation. No way he stays longer than a season. He’s just using this to hold him over until the right opportunity presents itself.

Professor, you can show them better than you can tell them.

They will feel it in 2021. Charlotte has nothing on it's books. One year to miss 50 plus mil will be all is needed. That's how HB2 ended up getting repealed. Once that money was missed, people were like oh hell nah

It’s a shame it had to come to this though. It makes me wonder how competent the folks behind the bid are. You would think Charlotte has been burned enough times by now to know what to expect when you play with fire.

Charlotte doesn't want the tourny anymore. Once they miss that money , they will rebid

I hope so. I fully intend to follow the tournament to Baltimore with an open mind (and more importantly) an open wallet. Something tells me though that Charlotte is the best place for the tournament.

I was just talking about this with a buddy of mine. They made no mention of him in the arena and we both thought that was odd.

Congrats Kimberly Anderson and the Lane Lady Dragons

SIAC Tournament Champions

Congrats Coach Anderson! She’s a proud Claflin Alumna!

This one honestly didn't shock me all that much. I hate to say it, but we've seen this before from Morehouse. No use dwelling on it now if you're MHC. Just gotta put your best foot forward and prepare for the big dance. I would like to see one of "us" do some damage this year.

EDIT:
I will say in MHC's defense that it's extraordinarily difficult to win the conference tournament when you've had a dominant regular season. My Panthers have been there before. In 2009, we breezed through the regular season only to get bounced from the tournament by the same LeMoyne-Owen squad we destroyed in the regular season. It's an occurrence that's far more wide spread than the first part of my comment suggests.

Benedict had better better wake up. This game is slipping from their grips.

JC Smith does it again! Second straight game, a buzzer beater in overtime to advance. 83-80 over Claflin. Good game...

Sigh...well it looks like I’m putting all my hope behind the ladies if I want to see my alma mater play tomorrow. Not feeling too confident about that, if I’m being honest. FSU beat our women pretty handily both times during regular season play.
