General Discussion Forum / Thumb Sucking
« on: June 20, 2011, 08:41:49 PM »
Got this from a good friend via email and wanted to share with you all. I laughed till I cried when I read it!

A boy had reached four without giving up the habit of sucking his thumb, though his mother had tried everything from bribery to reasoning to painting it with lemon juice to discourage the habit. Finally she tried threats, warning her son that, "If you don't stop sucking your thumb, your stomach is going to blow up like a balloon." Later that day, walking in the park, mother and son saw a pregnant woman sitting on a bench. The four-year-old considered her gravely for a minute, then spoke to her saying, "Uh-oh ... I know what you've been doing."

With all the senior executive detections in the past few months, I wonder how long can RIM maintain it's market presence?  They've already slipped quite a bit the past 3-4 years and don't see them rebounding anytime soon.

Politics / Interesting discussion this morning with a friend
« on: June 10, 2011, 10:58:38 AM »
Got engaged in a healthy discussion this AM after a client briefing. They are running commercials locally about losing jobs to illegal immigrants. Dude asked me what I thought about the commercials and I explained to him how the ads are very misleading. If companies didn't hire them and if the govt heavily fined those companies who do so, the problem will be quickly resolved. I knew that wod get him defensive with his typical conservative talking points. He took the angle that job losses are due to NAFTA. I asked if he thought if Nixon had a role in it via lifting the trade embargo with China in the early 70's?  Dude was clueless and stammered. Even he had to admit he hadn't thought of that and the overall impact of it.

Politics / Rather interesting quote from a sitting US Senator
« on: May 13, 2011, 08:28:43 PM »
Guess the knuckleheaded US Senator who said the below

"With regard to the idea of whether or not you have a right to health care, you have to realize what that implies.  It's not an abstraction. I'm a physician. That means you have a right to come to my house and conscript me.  It means you believe in slavery."

What the heck were they thinking when they blew up the levee?  Save a few thousand acres of farmland or flood three freaking states?  Sounds like a no brainer to me. Anyone else see the socio-ecOnomic ironies at play?

General Discussion Forum / The Juggler
« on: May 10, 2011, 08:22:26 AM »
A juggler, driving to his next performance, is stopped by the police. "What are those machetes doing in your car?" asks the cop.

"I juggle them in my act."

"Oh, yeah? Says the doubtful cop. "Let's see you do it.” The juggler gets out and starts tossing and catching the knives.

Another man driving by slows down to watch.

"Wow" says the passer-by. "I'm glad I quit drinking. Look at the test they're giving now!

I got a few.

1. Oreos and milk
2. Fried bologna sammich
3. Hummus
4. Chips and salsa
5. Ice cream
6. Stuffed grape leaves

From the Tailgate to the Concession Stand / Red Rice Yeast Extract

Anyone currently taking it?  I've started a regiment of 1,000 mg daily. That coupled with an exercise program consisting of swimming, jogging, cycling, yoga and free weights. Looking to improve my cholesterol numbers, lose 15# of fat, gain approx 22# of lean muscle mass and run a 10K by fall.

Thought these might be applicable for some on the forum. Enjoy!

General Discussion Forum / Why folks spend all that money for 1 day?
« on: April 24, 2011, 11:26:48 PM »
Mass was packed today. Pews were filled with folks I ain't seen - which is good and bad!  And most of these folks spent good money on suits and dresses for their little ones.  :o

I hope they continue to attend a church somewhere but them bay-bays acted a fool throughout service and cut the buck during the Easter egg hunt. This one portly, husky fella did not get a prize egg and started crying and boo-hooing complete with snot eschewing from his nostrils. The reason for his tears was he wanted this batman action figure. That mug didn't shut up until they gave him that toy!  We had gifts for all the kids but I was shocked that he carried on that way for a stinking toy.

One person had the gall to ask if we were serving fellowship brunch after the Easter egg hunt!  Some folks crack me up. This little buster on our pew loudly told his mom "why we be hafting to stand up so much! I'm tired!!". This caused the twins to scoot away from him to distance themselves. And why did this dude try to take communion 20 minutes later?
