I don't think the institutions named would stretch to move to another conference. That is a lot of work having changes with all involved (fans & stakeholders) involving more flesh pressing interactions with outside businesses by administrative heads in athletics. Even in the MEAC there are schools who see increased funds only from student fees and local mom and pops enterprises. Salaries are not tied to accomplishments financially but regular payday check pickups whether you do or not. Jobs are not performance based(that's right JOBS not POSITIONS) Don't fault Bethune, FAMU nor A&T for that jump. It was a business decision yet to be seen. VSU is prime for a stretch and have the facilities for such a move with natural potential rivals greater than current old time schools. Howard, Morgan, UMES, Little State (NSU) and NCCU all big games every year. However, if the leadership and stakeholders want to stay where they are, not seeing the enormous upside potential, so be it. It would not work. Collect the checks and walk, don't run.
Can't help but notice most of the posters are non VSU friends. That is PLEASE don't leave us here. We tried, but didn't have proper front persons to see it through. Look what Martin has done for A&T and there are those who besmirch his prior WSSU leadership. SHAME!!!!!
When Martin left for the UNC General Administration , the ball was dropped and all went back to business as usual because that Engineer saw where it could work through the A+B+C process. Those handling that move wanted to walk, not run, after his departure to join Erskine Bowles at the Board of Governors in that prestigious position. Call it like it is. Martin is one of the highest ranked chancellors in the system and look at his results.
That is what all HBCU's need at this time.
