Very interesting posts.  Some of you have a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy when it comes to men.

I abruptly ended a date when the woman I took out said 'There are no good Black men in Fayetteville.'

One other thing.  Don't go around saying 'My baby's Daddy is sorry.'  It doesn't make you look good.  It makes you look like not only do you sleep with sorry men, but you have babies with them.

Now I will agree with you on these points...I don't blame you for walkin out on ol' gurl..However, I would have asked her, "so, are you pre-judging me? And if so, why are we even here? I live in Fayetteville.."

I am not gonna throws every sister over 35 in this category, but I must say, the statement sticks to about half of the sisters I know of that age group who have never been married
.

Whew, thanks for cleaning that up a little.  Since I'm over 35 and have been married, I guess I miss the "nutty as a fruitcake" group.  :lmao:

I can't do anything but

You're welcome 90Aggie :hugs:

Well, okay........................I will somewhat amend my previous statement. The quote above is actually closer to what I meant. I don't like to generalize but, I am conveying what my experience has been. And I will also add that it does indeed tend to apply to the women who've never been married..

However, if I could tell you a couple of stories I experienced this week from my ex and also from another woman I used to date, yall would laugh. They have indeed re-inforced my theory through their latest antics.

I don't doubt it bro. I believe you.   I've seen it first hand, trust. It's a shame it has to be that way, but we as humans can be hurt beyond repair at times, and with both women and men, that hurt sometimes manifests itself into some serious long-standing damage.

Funckmaster...we do cope (though I'm under the 35 age group). It's just that women tend to get crapped on more over a lifetime than men do. After you have been through say 10 or more years of crap, you tend to get tired of being the toilet bowl. That's why I'm just taking this time...a man-cation if you will.

Why do you allow a few men to crap on you?  Of the millions of Black men in this country you have become tired because of a few.  You are taking a man-cation because of a handful.  You have been trained well.

People get crapped on Y, both male and female, that's the way the world works. The difference is, do you stand there and let it pile up on you? or do you just take the initial salvo, shake it off, and keep it moving.

B4L may be taking a break, but she has not totally given up. You need to stop trying to be so John Brown provocative and sly sometimes.....You come off as being a complete Jerk, but I think that's what you try to do..

B4L..I can dig the "mancation" At least you know you  have to take a long breather, and that's cool...You haven't totally given up, however, and that's a good thing.

My experience has told me the ones who are single and age 35 or older are pure nutcases.

Ouch!  :(

 :tiptoe:

I agree. Ouch!   :(

I am not gonna throws every sister over 35 in this category, but I must say, the statement sticks to about half of the sisters I know of that age group who have never been married. I don't think they intend on being that way..However, what I have observed that the women I know of this age bracket and status normally have very low coping mechanisms, or ability to "bounce back" from the dealings they may have had.

I say this because as guys (who normally pursue women), we have the pressure put on us as far as attracting/securing a mate, and when we are shot down, or crapped on (which I have been in the past, it just doesn't happen to the sisters), then we as black men, have to dust ourselves off, take a breather, then get back in the game. Some of the women I think about in this age bracket who have have been either/both the crappee or the crapper just become totally shell-shocked after their experience(s) and normally don't do well "getting back into the game."

And yeah, some of them become nuttier than fruitcakes when it comes to dating and their their overall attitudes and dealings with brothers...Just my experience....

Ay, as long as my wife thinks she has a good black man (and she does, 12 yrs married, 15 years total), it's whatevah... ;)

Politics / Re: GOOD BYE AND GOOD RIDDANCE MR. BECK
« on: July 05, 2011, 11:51:09 AM »
May I weigh in on this?
From a non-politically allied point of view, people like Mr. Beck have ulterior motives other than finance and personal wealth.  Granted 'these' types are getting rich but they are doing much more to incite stereotypes and racism.  Even if they are in it for the more, they rally those followers that truly are in it for the hatred of it all.  Words mean something to most people.  The words that G.B. frequently used are not just to be casually dismissed -- subliminal coercion is more like it.
From one who listen's to conservative talk shows, many have subliminal messages that incite disharmony and distention.  G.B. was guilty of that.....
Farewell to G.B. and others like him......
IMHO

Case Closed. And it's a final...

So little times so many examples:

I like The Police

 One of my all time favorite groups along with Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, Parliment/Funkadelic, The Roots, Earth Wind and Fire and James Brown and the JB's....

And being pseudo/semi-semi-professional gospel drummer myself, Stewart Copeland of the Police is one of my favorite drummers of all time too. That dude was nice with it...

Wow. Where to I start...?

I played tennis in high school (and 2 years at the JUCO level). One of my nicknames in high school was "Arthur Ashe" because of course, that's the only other brother they heard of that played tennis, and this was during the days of Yannick Noah too...ignant fools...

Oh, and because I played soccer at the rec league, club, junior high, and high school levels growing up. But those who knew me well enough knew I was a good overall athlete who could also hoop pretty well, and play football (flag or touch, I was too light in the hindpots to play at the high school level)

I HATE chitlin's pig feet, ears snout or whatever (my family just questions me, but they when they see me tear through some fried chicken and greens, I get my "card" back).

Because I actually had friends of all races throughout school, some were very good friends, especially in elementary and jr. high school.

And because I didn't live in or really "hang" in the "hood" growing up, a number of brothas and sistahs would say I lived in a "white" neighborhood, although in reality, my neighborhood, which basically consisted of about 30-35 people, was 95 percent black (not any more though, especially in the last 20 yrs.)...Once again..IGNANT FOOLS!

I have heard over and over again from females that they do not like short men.  Even short men that are taller than them.

Women who are shorter than me, trying to call me out, makes me laugh. I am like, "when you reach 5-9 1/2 barefoot like me (5-10 with shoes on), THEN start poppin' that yang! Until then..QUIET!"

A buddy of mine who is just a shade under 6-3 is like a height Nazi. He thinks any human who is not 5-11 or taller is a midget. He KILLS me with this, and his wife is 5-7, 5-7 1/2, and she used to roll right along with him, trying to jone on me about being "short". I was like "Negroette PLEASE, you ain't even taller than ME....HUSH UP!!" Obviously, they never read that the average height for a man in the United States is 5-9.

I think my boy secretly is jealous that I have always been overall more athletic than him, despite being about 5 inches shorter. He was a heck of a track and field hurdler in HS, and he played football too, but in sports like basketball, tennis, racketball, softball/baseball, soccer, he could never hold a candle to me...Anyway, he's still my ace boon...

I have actually dated a couple of women who were taller than me, both of them were 5-11. I've historically dated women between 5-2 and 5-5, however. My wife is 5-3.
