For the record, we as Black people have preached for years how Black professional athletes, celebrities, etc. should support HBCUs. We have preached about lifting ourselves up by supporting our own Black businesses. We have preached against hiring recycled HBCU coaches and the need to attract a roster of top student-athletes.

I am so proud that, in the face of racist resistance and negligence in Mississippi, JSU did all of the above and is reaping big rewards. "We" are getting it done, collectively.

I am pulling for Prime and JSU to succeed. Everything you said about celebrities helping and giving to hbcu's has been said in critism but when one tries to live up to that the crab mentality rears its ugly head every time. I hope Prime and Eddie George are both successful.

The reality is that you can only be an assistant at UNC-CH, ever. It wont ever change until the black athletes start to boycott schools and tell them why shiuld i play at an institution where i can never be a head coach.

This financial reality will continue until we get back on a winning track. Right now, with the coaching we have, dont expect that to change any time soon. Right now its more about cost than winning otherwise the AD shiuld have gone after a new HC as a first move.

The reactions to Prime should surprise no one.  I knew it would be only a matter of time.  Afterall, no one can come in and shine or make news, or bring attention unless they have been vetted by the HBCU old farts!  You know the ones that like to say they know whats best for HBCU's but never seem to move them up or away from the place they have been forever.  Old people may be wise but they have a hard time with a new way of doing things and that is exactly what Prime is doing....things in a new way that for now seem to be getting attention. After all who is the posting all about? ::)

I been sitting back and waiting for when the egos of the coaches and others would come out against Prime.  I can't recall seeing SWAC schools play on ESPN this much let alone on back to back weeks!  Granted, all of this is different with the pandemic but a very large part of this exposure has to be credited to Prime.  Since he arrived he has garnered the attention of the media and thus so has all of the SWAC.  What role the commissioner played in this, I can't say but what I can ask is this, "Would SWAC schools be playing on ESPN2 or ESPN on back to back weeks, if Prime had not come to JSU?"  You can answer that.  I think what Prime is doing is going to be similar to Ali, people watch to root for him to fail.  You all have heard of the crab-syndrome, right.  I want him to succeed because if he does, the whole league succeeds, although I know many will disagree.  And that is not to say that if he fails the league fails, not at all.

Maybe it has something to do with the pandemic and Spring ball???  Let's see how much air time we get when everyone play in the Fall.
Exactly!
Agreed! ESPN needs content right about now as well.

I tell you, we are our own worst enemy most of the time. I don't know the context of the statement but at the same time I can see so many of the coaches being jealous of the attention given to a guy who never coached at the collegiate level, when they have had to work their way up the ladder to get where they are. That's life. As long as his being there benefits the collective there is no reason to be hate, in general.

If he wins he should get money due per contract. Do not bring him back. We need to move forward not backwards. We need new blood, new enthusiasm. What we have is there for budget reasons. Its obvious its not based on sucess.

For the schools in other states who are surprised how high NC Hbcu's are how about showing us your cost for in-state and out of state students? Im sure many of the same questions will apply.

Im so glad someone is talking aboutbwhat he said. He tried to somewhat clean his staement up but to ise the word "dirt" showed exactly where his mindset is. He views HBCU's as dirt and yet what has he done to raise them from the "dirt" as he put it. He should not get a pass. Who gives a damn that he is a future HOF'er. Its mentality's like his that hurt us more than anything. I do like the way Makur came back at him with facts and not venum. He is not opposed to his son attending one i can tell you that!

Lets look on this as an awakening of our black athletes and hope it continues and spreads among others.

Why is the game listed as a 1pm start but the Bowie website says the broadcast will start at 2:54pm?
