But the disparity of minorities at HC and/or coordinator levels is disgusting. does the Rooney Rule still apply?

it still applies but many nfl teams only used that requirement as a "token" rather than "seriously" consider a minority candidate...

having now loss 2 games in a row to fellow meac hbcu's after beating iowa state takes a whole lot of "glitz" off of that win over iowa state.  upsets like that only look good if you keep on winning...

........a great victory.

No doubt the haters will now enter the room and swore we cheated for the win.   ::)

 perhaps you should worry more about beating hbcu's than iowa state.  just sayin'... :tiptoe:

hey, can't really blame him.  his roots are not hbcu football and in order for him to advance, he must climb the latter via the fbs/bcs route.  he probably knew when he first took the alcorn job that it would be a "stepping stone" to bigger and better things for him.

hate to see that happen, but that's the nature of the business.  a reporter asked coach mcnair after the cb if he felt he needed to make changes to his staff and he replied that he was more concerned about keeping the staff that he already had than making changes.  so i sense that coach mcnair anticipated that he may lose a staff member or two, and he probably had white in mind as an assistant who could potentially depart...

Look more like Ron Rivera. I think they need a GM first.

rivera is a better postseason coach than lewis, and i totally agree that the skins not only need a gm but they also need a president of football operations who knows what da hail he's doing.  unlike bruce allen who should've been fired a long time ago.

too bad the "owner" can't be fired too...

Sports Forum / Re: 2019 BLACK COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS: THE DEBATE
« on: December 28, 2019, 04:06:14 PM »
I thought the Black College National Championship Title goes to the team with the best record. If that is still the case, Bowie State should get the title!

it does not go to the team with the best record, especially when the team with the best record has a "weak" out of conference schedule.  a&t didn't play any "d2" teams, famu did.  a&t beat an out of conference top 20 "ranked" pwc, famu didn't.  a&t beat the swac "champions", famu didn't.

a&t played a more "difficult" schedule than famu and we have better "quality wins" than famu.  so records "alone" proves nothing.  besides, if that's the case, the best "d1" record of all hbcu's belong to north carolina a&t state university!

we don't count "d2" wins...
According to your logic, no D2 teams should have won the title. Virginia State won the BCF title two years ago. Bowie was 11-1 this season and they got the best record. The BCF title is not just for the D1 HBCU's. https://twitter.com/XIII_Mr_Undadog/status/1195871455952736256

dude, i could care less about d2.  and to suggest that a vsu team is better than us is beyond "ludicrous". i won't even dignify that notion...

Bowie State has another impressive year. But IMHO I doubt that they could compete with NCAT for 4qtrs.
They don't go by that. The best record team always wins the award. Every BCF team that won 11 games has won the BCF title. Bowie won 11 games this season.

dude, pub-leeeze.  bowie is good but not fcs good.  they wouldn't stand a chance against my aggies.  records 'alone' don't prove nothing, particularly when one team plays a much  'easier' schedule than the other.

i mean, let's be real...

Sports Forum / Re: Viewership Down for Celebration Bowl
« on: December 27, 2019, 11:04:11 AM »

truth is, the cb had a heck of a lot more "competition" for viewership this year.  not only more bowl games, but also the nfl to compete with.  that more than anything else is why the ratings dropped.

when we had that day and time slot to ourselves (without other bowl games/nfl), our ratings naturally peaked...
That just isn't true. There were no more bowl games played on that day than any other,  that made any significance difference. The CB still was the lead game to start the bowl season ,and as for the NFL game. It started an hour later. Just as it did last year. Heck I didnt even realize one was on until the half

dude, what da hail are you talkin' bout?  you must be outta your friggin' mind.  dude, there were "6" other bowl games played on the very same day as the cb, plus there were 3 more nfl games that day as well.

that fact changes "viewership" habits.  if there were no other bowl games or nfl games on, viewers are more likely to watch the only bowl game on tv that day.  but when there's 6 other bowl games and 3 nfl games on that day, viewers may not bother watching an fcs bowl game because there's plenty more games they can watch that day.

you must be outta your friggin' mind if you think "6" other bowl game options and "3" nfl games don't impact cb viewership.  most football fans don't watch tv "all day long".  they pick the games they rather see and only watch those games.  but if there's only 1 bowl game on tv and no other nfl games, they "naturally" watch that one bowl game and that's the difference this year.

its akin to the march madness "play-in games".  nobody would watch those "play-in games" if there were other march madness games scheduled to play on tv the same day.  but because the "play-in games" are the only march madness games on tv that night, it increases viewership for those games.  same goes for the cb...

Well Slope can’t say too much, his NCCU Eagles are going downhill in MEAC Football.

Slope has a point being that Alcorn was supposed to be the SWAC best team and a&t was our 2nd best.  Well, they did put up 40 on the aggies.

yeah but we dropped "54" big ones on ya'll a few weeks ago and dropped "45" big ones on ya'll last year!  and we're still waiting over the last 2 years for nccu to score at least "1 point" on us.  :snicker i mean, shouldn't you be a bit more concerned about nccu's defense rather than someone else's?

hey, as the ole saying goes, if ya live in a "glass house", don't throw no stones!  lol, a perfect example of the "pot" calling the kettle "black"... :lmao:

Be careful what you ask for...  That's why I wanted Alcorn to beat y'all.  I thought since you were our 2nd place team, Alcorn had a chance.   And don't worry, Eagles will be back. :nono2:  FAMU  :tongue2:

hey, we ain't worried 'bout ya'll nor anybody else.  folks keep forgetting that this was a "rebuilding" year for us, we had to replace "15 starters" this season.  not so next season, it'll be just the "opposite".

we'll have "15 starters" returning next season, including "da man", leading fcs all american rb jah-maine martin.  looking forward to next season, won't be no "drop off"...

There's no reason to debate.  The CB was won by NCAT.
The CB does not necessarily determine the HBCU national champions

Exactly.  What if Tennessee State has a phenomenal team
one year?  They don’t play in the Celebration Bowl.

and the same could be said for hampton. but c'mon, neither tennessee state nor hampton had impressive seasons this year.  so they're not a factor this year, nor have they been a major factor any of the years since the cb has existed...
