You can not compete with the best unless you have money like the best.  Inspirational dream or vision means nothing without big money.

The criticisms of the MEAC are so subjective it's sickening. The one criticism that is based on data is travel cost. The rest are juvenile. What is everyone complaining about?

I have been trying to figure this out for weeks.  The main issue I saw was travel.  Now that our Fl teams are leaving, that may solve some of the problems.  However, two schools in NC and Va are already gone before the problem will be solved.  Oh if we can have them back.

I really think that travel has very little to do with what is happening in the MEAC. Based on the past, decisions are made slowly by our schools.
I believe that A&T knew that FL A&M was leaving the MEAC, when it announced they were joining the bs.

Things are going to fast

And when either Hampton and A&T go 2-0 against the MEAC but fail to win the Big South; they're going to receive the Celebration Bowl bid.

It can happen as soon as 2021. Does it make sense for multiple MEAC teams to play them, after that happens?

This is not a problem, no one in the MEAC will play A&T or Hampton

Cut off your nose to spite your face? Eagles you all need to stop it because you all will soon be joining us in the BSC.

If the Eagles join the big south, then they should move on and not try to still the assets that belongs to the MEAC.  The CB belongs to the MEAC
They should not use the MEAC teams to make money.  If they can not make money playing bs teams, then they should join another conf.
The Eagles and no one else has a right to take anything from the other HBCU's in the MEAC once they leave

A&T and Central should not stop playing, but no more than 1 MEAC school should play A&T and Hampton each year.

If A&T and Hampton are allowed to play in the Celebration Bowl, then the top teams in the CIAA and SIAC should also be allowed to play in The Celebration Bowl.  At least they are HBCU's, that did not sell out.

Eeverything associated with NCAA athletics causes a pause in enthusiasm for the coming season.  Coach seemingly go after character to dress the athletes coming to the nest.  Good.  I like the recruits assembled..

Agreed. Had some bad apples that needed to leave or transfer to that school in Greensboro...

Lol you mean that school that you can't seem to get past the 50 yard when you play them the last 2 years

HISTORY.

  a GOOD number of Black people at ETSU?

Please define 'Good Number'

ETSU's Black enrollment is around 7% out of a total enrollment around 14K

....and as for Johnson City, maybe 4000+ Blacks living there.

I have no idea how many blacks are on ETSU campus.  One of my relatives when to school there in 1969, and I did not feel out of place when I visited.

I have family members who live in Johnson City, and I do not know the total number of people that live in the city, or what percentage of them are black.

???......what’s the rationale for this series? Some kind of “cultural exchange” or something?

ETSU is located in Johnson City, up in the mountains in the northeast corner of Rocky Top. Is the expectation that when Del State goes to their home stadium, they will also drag the band along to “entertain” those folks?

Somebody please break this down for a brutha.

There is a good number of black people at ETSU, and in Johnson City. They claim that because East Tenn. did not leave the Union during the Civil War, many blacks came there to escape from slavery.

What else can be the reason why you don't play a sure sell-out?  Then they want to complain about not having enough money for travel.  Now they are banking on playing NCCU every year.  Sorry, we are playing WSSU!  :tongue2:  Enjoy your new conference aggies. ::)

You will very likely be joining us in the next year or so. That's why I'm gonna save some of these threads.   ;D

You make me sick because what you normally say comes to pass.  :dedhorse: :dedhorse:

Who knows eagle pride? One thing is for sure the birds moving to a conference with it's core in Va, NC, and SC makes a lot of sense. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Norfolk is thinking about it.

If Central and Norfolk joined the Big South you would get A&T, Hampton, and Norfolk locked in as conference games. Out of conference you could play anyone you wanted...FBS money games, regional PWIs, and HBCU rivals...the reduction in travel expenses would be real that's for sure.

I know but I still don't like it.  Wonder why the Big South is all of a sudden interested in HBCUs?

The state of N.C. put a good deal of money into A&T over the passed few years.  Look like they are now putting more money into NCCU.  Is the state pressuring A&T and NCCU to join the big south to attract more white students, and justify the money put into them?  Was the big south the conference selected, because they will take anyone, and most the members are really looking for a new conference home?

I cannot see how the money saved on travel will make-up for the money lost on attendance.  I have seen the amount of money A&T plans to save on travel, but I have not seen the estimated amount of money they expect to lose in attendance.   When the University of Maryland moved to the Big Ten, all these numbers were provided when the announcement was made.

One thing the move to the big south does is it reduces A&T’s footprint in the black community.  I would guess in a few years, black high school students in the DMV may not know that A&T is a HBCU.

Watch out for WSSU.  They will build another great staff.

They will?  It's been downhill since Maynor left

Yes.  They always have a group of great coaches around campus.
