Ukraine's New Offensive Is Fueled by Captured Russian Weapons

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-s-new-offensive-is-fueled-by-captured-russian-weapons/ar-AA12CIDc?cvid=52f13fa8a16a49bb8d7b127b02178e85

KUPYANSK, Ukraine—Captured and abandoned Russian tanks, howitzers and fighting vehicles—quickly scrubbed of their Z tactical markers and repainted with Ukrainian crosses—are being turned against their former owners as Ukraine’s military advances in the eastern part of the country.

Ukraine’s rapid breakthrough in the Kharkiv region a month ago ended up putting hundreds of pieces of Russian armor into Kyiv’s hands, military officials say, as the Russian army left behind its heavy weapons and warehouses of supplies in a disorganized retreat.

Some Russian pieces of equipment were ready for immediate use, while others are being repaired to return to the front. Tanks, vehicles and guns too damaged to salvage are being cannibalized for spare parts. Crucially, Russia has also left behind large quantities of Soviet-standard artillery shells that had nearly run out in Ukraine.

This haul is helping power Ukrainian forces as they retake parts of the eastern Donetsk region, including the town of Lyman, and push further east into nearby Luhansk. Kyiv has regained more than 4,000 square miles of land in the east over the past month, in addition to advances in the south.

One Ukrainian battalion, the Carpathian Sich, seized 10 modern T-80 tanks and five 2S5 Giatsint 152-mm self-propelled howitzers after it entered the town of Izyum last month, said its deputy chief of staff, Ruslan Andriyko.

A Russian journalist admitted on state TV that Ukrainian forces are making gains in the south.
Such confessions are rare in Russian state media, which is dominated by Kremlin propagandists.
US officials say Ukraine has made significant advances in the southern Kherson region.
A prominent Russian journalist delivered a rare confession on state TV, admitting that Ukrainian forces are liberating territory in the southern Kherson region.

"In the Kherson region, we have lost 17 settlements," war correspondent Alexander Sladkov said Tuesday, according to a CNN report.

"This doesn't mean that we've collapsed like a house of cards. These mistakes aren't gigantic strategic failures. We are still learning," he continued, according to the report. "I know this is hard to hear in our eighth month of the special operation. But we are reporters. We are waiting for reinforcements."

Putin’s Dueling Foot Soldiers Are Now Apparently Killing Each Other Off

https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-dueling-foot-soldiers-now-155912351.html

While Ukraine’s military has been successfully chasing Russian troops out of one territory after another, Vladimir Putin’s foot soldiers have apparently been turning their weapons on each other as the Russian leader’s “special military operation” continues to come apart at the seams in spectacular fashion.

The Kremlin’s flailing bid to get an edge on the battlefield by deploying mercenaries from the Wagner Group—which now includes hundreds of prison inmates—has reportedly backfired as the private military force butts heads with the Russian military.

The growing conflict resulted in a Wagner fighter gunning down a lieutenant colonel in the Russian army—a deadly episode of “friendly fire” that the Kremlin is said to be trying to sweep under the rug, according to the human rights group Gulagu.net.

“They are trying to hush up the incident and prevent publicity. And this is not the first emergency of its kind,” the group quoted a source as telling the Gulagu.net hotline.

The incident was also reported by two other Russian Telegram channels, though no details were provided on when or where the shooting is said to have taken place.

Retreating Russians leave their comrades' bodies behind

https://www.yahoo.com/news/russian-losses-evident-key-liberated-080515371.html

LYMAN, Ukraine (AP) — Russian troops abandoned a key Ukrainian city so rapidly that they left the bodies of their comrades in the streets, offering more evidence Tuesday of Moscow's latest military defeat as it struggles to hang on to four regions of Ukraine that it illegally annexed last week.

Meanwhile, Russia’s upper house of parliament rubber-stamped the annexations following “referendums” that Ukraine and its Western allies have dismissed as fraudulent.

Responding to the move, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy formally ruled out talks with Russia, declaring that negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin are impossible after his decision to take over the regions.

The Kremlin replied by saying that it will wait for Ukraine to agree to sit down for talks, noting that it may not happen until a new Ukrainian president takes office.

“We will wait for the incumbent president to change his position or wait for a future Ukrainian president who would revise his stand in the interests of the Ukrainian people,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Despite the Kremlin's apparent political bravado, the picture on the ground underscored the disarray Putin faces amid the Ukrainian advances and attempts to establish new Russian borders.

The View's Ana Navarro lists off Republican men who are only against abortion until their mistresses need one

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/the-view-s-ana-navarro-lists-off-republican-men-who-are-only-against-abortion-until-their-mistresses-need-one/ar-AA12Av1y?cvid=1772f214866540b69088aabc62011899

"The View" started off the Tuesday show dealing with the bombshell report from the Daily Beast revealing that self-proclaimed "pro-life" Republican Senate candidate, Herschel Walker, paid for an abortion for one of his exes in 2009. Walker took to Twitter and Fox's Sean Hannity to deny the claim and continues to deny the claim. The woman has the receipt, a bank deposit and a get-well card.

It resulted in Walker's son, Christian, unleashing and attacking his father for lying, for abuse, violence and hypocrisy, while claiming he's living life as a Christian.

Similar to the younger walker, Republicans Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin said that it's the hypocrisy that Republicans should be ashamed of.

"Two issues here the lies, the lies, and the other is hypocrisy just strikes you in the face and unfortunately this is not a unique situation," said Navarro. "In 2017, Republican Congressman Tim Murphy from Pennsylvania resigned from Congress after a report came out after he had asked his mistress to get an abortion. Very pro-life. No exceptions, too. A current Congressman, a Republican from Tennessee, running for re-election this year, it came out that he had asked his ex-wife and also a patient, because he's doctor, with whom he was having an affair, to have an abortion. It's the hypocrisy of these men who are mandating laws, having no compassion. But when their mistresses get pregnant, little girls get pregnant, when they have unwanted pregnancies, the laws for not the women in their lives. It's the reason this woman involved here said she came out, her quote in that story that was released, 'I just can't with the hypocrisy anymore.' Girl, I'm with you."

Walker denies abortion claim, then is attacked by son

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/herschel-walker-denies-report-reimbursed-041100289.html

Herschel Walker, a Georgia football icon and U.S. Senate hopeful, has denied a report in the Daily Beast that an ex-girlfriend claimed he paid the cost of her abortion more than 10 years ago, a claim that would seem to contradict his anti-abortion posture on the campaign trail.

Walker, a Republican, immediately denied the claim and promised to file a defamation lawsuit against the Daily Beast, which published the story, on Tuesday morning. Walker later appeared on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," where he issued additional denials.

"I can tell you right now, I never asked anyone to get an abortion," Walker told Sean Hannity. "I never paid for an abortion -- it's a lie."

The Daily Beast reported Monday that an unidentified woman who claimed to be Walker's ex-girlfriend said she sought a medical abortion after the couple conceived in 2009. The woman shared documentation with the news outlet: a receipt from an abortion clinic, a bank deposit receipt with an image of a $700 check that appeared to be signed by Walker sent within a week of the abortion and a "get well" card that appeared to be signed by Walker.

‘Pro-Life’ Herschel Walker Paid for Girlfriend’s Abortion

https://www.yahoo.com/news/pro-life-herschel-walker-paid-230049806.html

Herschel Walker, the football legend now running for Senate in Georgia, says he wants to completely ban abortion, likening it to murder and claiming there should be “no exception” for rape, incest, or the life of the mother.

But the Republican candidate has supported at least one exception—for himself.

A woman who asked not to be identified out of privacy concerns told The Daily Beast that, after she and Walker conceived a child while they were dating in 2009, he urged her to get an abortion. The woman said she had the procedure and that Walker reimbursed her for it.

She supported these claims with a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a “get well” card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker.

The woman said there was a $125 difference because she “ball-parked” the cost of an abortion after Googling the procedure and added on expenses such as travel and recovery costs.

Additionally, The Daily Beast independently corroborated details of the woman’s claims with a close friend she told at the time and who, according to the woman and the friend, took care of her in the days after the procedure.

Investors playing hardball with troubled Trump start-up as they threaten to take their money and walk: report

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/investors-playing-hardball-with-troubled-trump-start-up-as-they-threaten-to-take-their-money-and-walk-report/ar-AA12x9kj?cvid=16a3bcc5f875437c9ff6d37919d7f708

According to a report from Politico, the embattled partnership between Donald Trump's social media start-up and the company behind the SPAC that would take it public is on the verge of falling apart for good as potential investors either renege on their plans to fund it or demand a bigger return on their investment.

At issue is the proposed deal that was supposed to inject over a billion dollars into the increasingly troubled start-up before it went public -- which now may collapse under its own weight.

As Politico's Declan Harty reports, investors sensing weakness now want a bigger slice of the pie if they are expected to park their money in a business deal that has been struggling since its inception.

Reporting, "The group of more than three dozen investors who had planned to put $1 billion into the company have begun to waver as bad news keeps piling up around the deal," Harty wrote, "The hedge funds, trading firms and other major backers are questioning whether the financial riches that first attracted them to the transaction are still strong enough to hold their interest in a deal fraught with troubles, according to four investors who asked not to be named. Negotiations have been ongoing as some investors seek bigger potential profits in exchange for following through on commitments to put hundreds of millions of dollars into the venture."

In the span of a week, Marco Rubio voted against hurricane relief, asked for additional hurricane relief, and praised the Biden administration's hurricane relief

https://www.yahoo.com/news/span-one-week-marco-rubio-024413144.html

Hurricane Ian devastated Florida this past week as Republican Senators voted against relief.

Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Rick Scott also penned a letter asking for federal relief for the hurricane damage.

Florida locals say they are running out of resources as they attempt to recover from the storm.

Sen. Marco Rubio demonstrated this week a now-familiar Republican routine around taking federal money for hurricane relief.

Hurricane Ian hit Florida as a Category 4 storm on Wednesday, leaving more than 2.5 million people without power, more than 1,100 people in need of rescue, and nearly 80 people dead, according to The New York Times.

But Florida's senators, Rubio and Rick Scott, didn't vote in favor of a stopgap spending bill on Thursday that included an additional $18.8 billion allocated to FEMA spending for Hurricane Ian and other natural disasters, HuffPost reported. The bill passed, without the help of 25 Republican 'No' votes.
