House Ethics Committee Tells Duncan Hunter To Stop Voting In House Due To Guilty Plea
The House Ethics Committee informed Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) on Thursday that he should refrain from voting on the House floor in the wake of his guilty plea this week in a federal corruption case.
In a letter signed by the committee’s chairman, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), and ranking member, Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Texas), the ethics committee noted a House “code of official conduct” rule that Hunter would violate by continuing to vote.
House Rule XXIII states that a member of the House who has been convicted of a crime that may carry a sentence of two or more years’ imprisonment “should refrain from participation in the business of each committee of which such individual is a member, and a Member should refrain from voting on any question at a meeting of the House or of the Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union, unless or until judicial or executive proceedings result in reinstatement of the presumption of the innocence of such Member or until the Member is reelected to the House after the date of such conviction.”

Impeachment Witness Turley Claims Home, Professorship Threatened during Testimony .
In an opinion article penned Thursday, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley claimed that his home and office were flooded with “threatening messages and demands that I be fired from George Washington University” over opposing President Trump’s impeachment in congressional testimony Wednesday.
“I remained a tad naive in hoping that an academic discussion on the history and standards of it might offer a brief hiatus from hateful rhetoric on both sides,” Turley, who was called by Republicans as a witness in the House Judiciary Committee’s Wednesday impeachment hearing, wrote in The Hill. “ . . . My call for greater civility and dialogue may have been the least successful argument I made to the committee.”

another spineless orange kool aid drinker
WASHINGTON (AP) — Bowing to pressure from the White House, a Republican senator blocked a resolution Thursday that would recognize the mass killings of Armenians by Ottoman Turks a century ago as genocide.
North Dakota Sen. Kevin Cramer said he thwarted the measure after White House officials called the timing inappropriate. President Donald Trump just returned from a NATO summit in London, where Turkey's role in the mass killing was discussed by NATO leaders. Turkey is a NATO member.
Cramer, who co-sponsored similar legislation in 2017 when he was in the House, said he agreed to the White House request because the vote was set so close to the NATO summit.

Trump Says His Border Wall 'Can't Be Climbed.' Watch.
The kool aid drinkers will declare fake news and not true.
Three men at the border showed this week just how quickly President Donald Trump’s unscalable border wall can be climbed. A Customs and Border Patrol official announced later that the man who climbed over the wall to cross the border was quickly arrested, so the “system” worked.
A video of the feat has gone viral on Twitter a month after border officials conceded that people were also cutting through the barrier with a cordless power tool available at hardware stores.
Trump has declared the barrier both “impenetrable” and “unclimbable.” He claimed that 20 unnamed “world-class mountain climbers” were brought in to test the wall with no success. “This wall can’t be climbed,” Trump declared.

College Cheerleader Who Was Punished For Taking A Knee Wins $145,000 Settlement .
A Georgia college student has won a $145,000 settlement after being disciplined for taking a knee in protest during the national anthem when she was a cheerleader.
The controversy over Kennesaw State University’s crackdown on Tommia Dean and four other cheerleaders two years ago triggered the resignation of college President Sam Olens after state university officials said guidelines weren’t followed to protect the students’ constitutional rights.
Dean charged in a lawsuit last year that her rights were violated by college and local officials after the cheerleaders had silently protested police brutality during the national anthem at a football game in September 2017. Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick launched the protest movement in 2016 to raise awareness about racial inequality and police brutality — a move that infuriated President Donald Trump.
