Jesus christ. They sure are trying to make a hero out of him.

Wish my brother was an anchor on a cable news network. Could probably get an hour or two every day to spit bollocks.

Dude was having too much fun.

2020 maximum 401k contribution is $19.5K

stop clubin' equated that much? Hell, even 50% of that is a helluva club tab.

is it really necessary to exaggerate?

Also, how does it may sense to move money from a savings account to a 401k?

and let's be honest you only care about the income limit because it didn't include you. An income limit was necessary because folks making 6,7 figures a year don't need a check. If they do, they also need a budget and follow it.

Clubs was an example of me having to make lifestyle cuts.

Also you cant move from savings to 401k because 401k(non-roth) is pre tax, so it only benefits if you take it directly out of your paycheck.

And im sorry but if certain people need a budget to follow, then so do people who fall below the income line. Just because I make above 75k doesnt mean I am not negatively impacted by the swings of the market, the effects of social distancing, and the pandemonium which has followed.

and no, I dont need the check as it will be less than half a paycheck going forward since the 401k is maxed, but that is besides the point. Most peope in need now wont need a 1200 check in 3 weeks when it finally arrives. The point of the matter is we all pay taxes, we all are in this together, but they magically draw a line so low that the average joe is hurt. Dont want people 160k+ getting the checks, fine, those people are ballers, but come on now 90k isnt even a high roller in big american cities.

Take the limit. 99K after a 6% 401k deduction(standard) and max HSA(standard) is only like $5200 a month. You telling me a person who takes home 5200 a month wont enjoy an extra 23%?

This is just republicans and the government screwing over the little man once again.

Howard is heading toward 75% female enrollment.  Black males just aren't  seeing education is large numbers as in years past. I dont have an answer but one needs to be found soon. :tiptoe:

:o  wooooaaaah!!!!  :o  I didn't know that B4L. You guys are about to catch up with Tennessee State and Clark AU... Both have overwhelming female enrollment, over 80% at this point.  Where are our young men?

There is less stigma towards men to go into trades.

You can be a truck driver and make more than the average CAU grad.(Morehouse too honestly)

For voting for Reagan you shouldnt receive a refund for the rest of your life, and that goes for all boomers who voted in 84.

Also you clown my girlfriend, but she looks better than any woman you have had this century. No question.

I was able to max my 401k based on lifestyle adjustments. I havent been to a nightclub all year.

For each parent and student, it has to be a very personal question. How much is each willing to sacrifice? The expense of the Ivies and the doors that they open are not questioned. On a national scale, the expenses of Morehouse College are not considered to be excessive . I quote: "Expenses are a little less than colleges it is compared with". It is only expensive compared with other HBCUs.
Morehouse is not the only HBCU that you can ask this about. Does it open enough doors to make it worth it?

NCSIACFAN, yes.............that is part of my spiel when I'm out recruiting for the college. My experience is that......1) Morehouse is not expensive when compared to other private liberal arts colleges. In fact, its on the cheaper side; 2) Yes, my experience is that the doors that were opened as a result of going to Morehouse, were worth it to me. Of course, when I went to Morehouse tuition was around $6,000, and by the time I graduated it was around $8,000 (not including room and board).

Jesus christ.

You'd cry if you saw what kids now pay. I cant believe tution for you was as low as less than a month(before taxes of course) of my wages now. I've been paying student loans for 8 years.

Bro, you are most likely getting taxed out da  a s s.
Hi income tax bracket
No dependents
No mortgage interest

AND student loan payments I don't even want to imagine how much?

So I can understand Neymar's point of view.

My suggestion is you need to buy a condo, townhome so you have some type of tax shelter to write off stuff and get refunds at the end of the year.

Don't buy the most expensive, just something well below your means. Guarantee you it will be cheaper than your rent.

Remember paying rent, is $$$$$ out of the window.

Paying a mortgage, is $$$$ in the bank and your note stays the same.

I know you say you cannot afford to buy a home....maybe not the home you desire, but you can afford to buy something as a starter home or townhome or condo that can eventually be turned in to rental property.

thank me later, little bro.
naw JT, I don't understand at all

(1) There is a tax credit for student loans
(2) Dude said he gives the max in 401k.  If his finances are that stressed how can he do that????
(3) He can afford to fly to west coast on a whim to spy on a handicapped girl.
(4) Based on what he has posted he does nothing for anyone but himself
(5) Atlanta is not overly expensive to live in like most northern cities.
(6) 1&2 reduce your tax debt.

So I don't understand at all. :tiptoe:

1. Student loan interest deduction is completely eliminated if you make over 80k.
2. As of March 30th paycheck my 401k for 2021 will be maxed. I did that by cutting into savings I had last year. Its not sustainable.
3.Austism isnt a handicap.
4. You know nothing of my charity.
5. Atlanta is expensive. You cant live in a nice part of town on less than 1600 a month alone.
6. 1 most certainly does not if you are over the income limit. 2 does so but it does nothing about cash flow.

9
I actually agree that the limit is too low.  But since you make 90+K a year, I seriously question your complaints about your student loan payments.  You're not burdened, you're just don't want to pay.

I am burdened. Im a 30 year old man that cant afford a house, kids, or a wife. Thats what student loans have done to me.

Cant believe this forum is full of trump fans now.
No not trump fans just not a fan of yours.  By the way are you a U.S. Citizen? I've asked several times now and you have skirted the answer which leads me to think you are not.

Come on now.

Also why are Black parents getting sticker shock on college costs?? Why aren't we savings from birth instead of waiting until the child is in their junior year of high school only to discover college is expensive.

Because when they were younger colleges were A LOT cheaper.

Also lets get real black income is in no way able to compensate saving for colleges on top of the already insane expenses in terms of housing, childcare, and their own student loans.

That is true. Now what I'm about to say may ruffle some feathers but here goes. I can one can trace the rise in college costs with the flattening of wages. So lets say in the mid 80's a couple may is blue collar wife is a school teacher. They could pay for or support a child going thru. Remove the manufacturing job and the teacher salary has not changes.  Wages have not kept pace with costs and the removal of Pell Grants are where we are now.

Wages is real.

By my math even entertaining the though of paying for your kids education will require both parents pulling in well north of 70k. Only in a household that is 140k-150k you might be able to reach top class. This is also non-SF/NYC math too. In those places you gotta be at 200k to even have a slight chance.

This country is so a-- backwards it begs belief. >:(

According to the stimulus calculator located here:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/business/coronavirus-stimulus-check-calculator/

I, a single male who recorded slightly below 95k last year on my w2 will only be eligible to receive $200 of the 1200 payment. If we are all in this pandemic together why is there a limit on the checks. We should all get the same amount to face this. Why create these artificial lines?

Its BS.

I was on a call with a customer in Alabama when it was announced.

I asked would there be a move towards online and distance learning and he said something about him not thinking it was possible because of how poor the state was and how poor internet access was in rural areas.
