Politics / Question for my conservative brothers
« on: June 23, 2012, 07:49:41 AM »
Do republicans represent the interest of ALL PEOPLE.... I had an interesting opportunity last night while at the bar, a friend of mine (who is a republican) told me that the party is very inclusive and fights for the rights of all when i asked him how all he could bring up is that the republicans are the party of Lincoln .... i agreed then asked i and then what .... with no reply....after that he changed the subject

So i ask in all fairness with no slight intended, what have republicans put forward to make sure all people are treated fairly

civility please

Politics / Good idea or Bad idea?
« on: January 07, 2012, 04:04:24 PM »

Lawmakers in the nation's capital have floated a plan to require high school students to apply to college or trade school -- even if the students have no interest in attending.
The proposal is a bid to ensure students in the troubled Washington, D.C., school system at least have the know-how to navigate the admissions process.
D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown, who introduced the bill, said the proposal would establish a "mandatory workshop" to teach teenagers how to apply for aid and admission. It would then require everybody to apply to at least one post-secondary school before graduation.

Atlanta (CNN) -- About 2.5 million young people have received health insurance coverage as a result of health care reform measures that President Barack Obama signed into law last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday.
About 2.5 million more people, aged 19 to 25, have health insurance than had it before the law took effect because of a provision that lets young adults remain on their parents' insurance plans through age 26, the agency's National Center for Health Statistics said.
"Moms and dads around the country can breathe a little easier knowing their children are covered," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in a statement.

Politics / I give up...

Rational conversation...
Thought based arguments...
Doing whats best for EVERYONE.....

These are concepts that escape the United States that we think we know and love, since i was a child i was always taught to look at both sides before making a decisions, review facts, use logic, be fair

All these are things that america no longer uses or cares about ...

WE DESERVE THE GOVERNMENT WE HAVE!!!!....WE ABSOLUTELY DESERVE IT

We turned from a country of workers, innovators, thinkers.... do'ers a nation who cared about its neighbors

To a nation of whiners, a nation that does not value education, a nation that does not value hard work, the term an honest days work for an honest days wage no longer exists .....we have turned into a nation where money buys justice, a nation where we defend businesses not workers

Do you know that most states in the country are "at will states"... an at will state means that you can be terminated from your job with no reason, meaning your job can fire you for any reason they want without justification. And the only recourse the worker has is to PROVE THAT HE/SHE WAS RACIALLY DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, OR WAS RETALIATED AGAINST...

This rant comes after a long night crying for my friend ... We came into my company together and after years of dedicated service he was fired 2 weeks before christmas ... for sending an email to his girlfriend.  He was told that he violated his code of conduct policy and was terminated ... Now you may be saying "hey he knew the rules, he violated them" the problem with this is you are allowed to send emails outside of the company directory I have done it many times along with every other person in my office. He was singled out for what reason no one knows..

I come on this site reularly to debate politics... but last night it hit me all this debate means nothing on any level because you and i dont make decisions ....our congressman, senators, representatives ignore the wishes of the people and put forward the agenda of money ...

and money will be what tears this country apart.....its already happening.....

whats the point

Politics / Please read the editorial....
« on: November 30, 2011, 02:10:51 PM »
I was on CNN.com and saw this editorial and honestly i think i may change my mind about the Tea Party after going to an area where the Occupy DC folks were holed up and speaking to them about what they were looking for .....

Plain and simple:

Hold criminals accountable for there actions regardless of money or pedigree
Hold Wall StreeT & DC acccountable for corruption
Less Government ( I was so shocked to hear this since conservatives have been screaming that they are screaming for more govt)

These things sound so familiar....

Arent these the same principles the Tea Party wants...

I have come to this conclusion as a country we are way more United than we think.... there are principles that most agree on, there will always be differences but the core is real!!!

For your reading pleasure..
http://www.cnn.com/2011/11/30/opinion/etzioni-sec/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

This editorial is about people who break the law and commit fraud ....but spend no time in jail and commit the same crimes over and over again.

Now I ALSO HOLD OUR PRESENT POTUS PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE as he has not pushed to prosecute the criminals ( i say partial only because he is doing the same thing that every POTUS before him has done ignored the problem and done little to fix it)

lets talk about it....

Politics / An Honest Question
« on: November 29, 2011, 01:17:55 PM »
Honestly,
Lets remember President Obama won because he was able to influence real independents ( not the ones who know they are Reps or Dems and only vote that way) and he was able to pull republican votes away from Mcain can any republican make the case to Minorities, Gays, etc etc that they should vote for him/her

Do any republicans have a chance of winning..

Romney = The eventual nominee, is not well liked in most republican circles most seem to be coming to grips with the fact that he will win so they will support him but most will not come out. Also he will be attacked as he already has as a Wall Street enthusiast and rampant flip flopper who is only out to win ur vote.

Newt = His past speaks for itself he has no crossover appeal

Cain = outside of a VP slot he honestly dosent have a chance... from the disastrous 999 plan to him stating that he's not supposed to know foreign policy (  :snicker )

Pawlenty = NEVER

Bachmann = NEVER

Huntsman = Here lies the best decision he has crossover appeal , he knows policy, proven in govt ....but he dosent stand a chance because he does not fit into the purity pool.

In reading many of these posts and I have been to many political events and i have realized why...

Black Conservatives dont speak with Black people

Outside of a town hall that Michael Steele had with Howard University students I cant recall a Black conservative coming to my church holding a rally going to an HBCU or anything they only talk at us from a distance

for example in the 2010 primary in Maryland a Man named Charles Lollar during his time he ran in Prince Georges County a large Black area that also has a large are where many white conservatives live. Well I go to one of the largest Churches in PG county he never came to speak but his rival did. He never went by Bowie State, he never spoke with his own community .....and thats why he lost and lost big

I think this is the same as Herman Cain .... when has he ever spoke to his own people to convince THEM that he is there best decision

Politics / Really Mr.Cain we are "Brainwashed"?
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:38:47 AM »
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/29/herman-cain-black-voters_n_986441.html

The former CEO of Godfather's Pizza said, "I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative." He added, "So it's just brainwashing and people not being open-minded, pure and simple."

The funny thing is Mr.Cain really believes this ....... why cant black people just feel like the policies put forth by conservatives are against their best intrests
