General Discussion Forum / Hey Cholly - Question on The Expanse TV series
« on: January 10, 2017, 01:12:34 PM »
So I just finished Leviathan Wakes, the first novel in The Expanse series and I saw where the first season of the TV show is streaming on Amazon Prime.

You know how I am on Visual media diverging from their source print media, so I want to ask: How different is the show from the Books? Will watching the show spoil what is to come in the books (I've just started on the second one)?

The first book was really good and the opening of the second was outstanding!!

After sputtering all night on offense TU finally puts a drive together at the end to score the go ahead TD with 1 minute left. Miles missed 4 long field goals in the game.

The King in the North was brutally killed by one of his Vassals, and the Freys...Huge plot twist that was a big shocker when I first read it.

They depicted it pretty well all things considered (with differences of course!).

General Discussion Forum / And now for a GOOD Detroit Post!!
« on: June 01, 2012, 10:06:31 AM »
I just posted on another thread about how I love live music outdoors in the Summer Time.  The Detroit area is a great place for that with a number of outdoor concert venues and several outdoor festivals throughout the summer (culminating in my favorite the Detroit Ja-- Festival).

My favorite venue of them all has to be Detroit's Chene Park. Situated right on the Detroit River Front, just a mile or two from downtown, Chene Park is an excellent venue for R&B and contemporary Ja-- (with a little hip hop thrown in for good measure) throughout the summer with concerts on Wednesday nights and the weekends all summer long.  I've seen several great shows and acts there over the years and continue to enjoy going there.  If you're ever in the Detroit area in the Summertime, you'd be doing yourself a big favor to check out a show there.  Check it out:

General Discussion Forum / Game of Thrones: Season 2
« on: May 07, 2012, 10:45:40 AM »
How are you Game of Thrones watchers enjoying the second season?

As a huge fan of the books on which this show is based, I have to tell you that I am becoming increasingly disappointed with how this season is going!

I clearly understand that no screen adaptation of a novel is going to completely follow the novel, but this season of Game of Thrones (based on the second novel in the series "A Clash of Kings") is significantly diverging from the source materiel.  I recognize that they are condensing scenes, and situations in the show to keep the pace of the show up, as well as to fit the events of the second book (which was longer than the first) into a ten episode season. I could deal with that.  But in doing that, they are leaving out several characters, some of which are very important, the characters they do have are doing entirely different things! I find it increasingly harder every week to keep watching! It's very fustrating!
