Sports Forum / Yale vs Army

Since I live in a non HBCU environment but love college football I may check out the Yale vs Army game to be played in Yale Bowl. Yale Bowl is celebrating 100 years this year.(Built in 1914). Army suppose to march aprox.1-2000 cadets into the bowl that should be a sight to see. In addition Yale tailgaiting is quite extravagant....should be a nice day at the bowl...

Fifth straight day with temp being damn near 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Drinking plenty of fluids and going outside only when necessary. Can't complain too much after all it is July.

(June 20, 2013). Thelma P. Payton, the wife of Tuskegee University's fifth president, Dr. Benjamin F. Payton, died. She served as first lady from 1981-2010.  Formerly Thelma Plane of Evanston, Ill., she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University and a Master in Social Work from Columbia University. ( Additional information and survivors will be announced later).  Our prayers go out to family and friends....... .

On the maternal side of my family we were capable of tracing my great-great grandfather arrival to the United States on a slave ship arriving in Virginia some time around 1849. He was given the first name Mose and last name Peoples after the plantation owner. He was sold from Virginia to Georgia and from Georgia to Alabama. He married a Creek Indian and had five off-springs one being my great grandmother.

The research was done mostly by tracing census records and investigating oral history pass down from generation to generation.

I know this is an old topic but still remain interesting to many.  If you would like to share your family discoveries please feel free.

I want to thank the Almighty for another year on earth....other words today is my BIRTHDAY. I'm thankful to God for my health, family/friends (Onnidan included) and prosperity.  Plan to spend the day with family & friends, attending church service and watching NFL football. GO GIANTS.....

At one point the quarter system was fairly common. All I hear mostly is reference to the semester system. Just curious....
