Petey Jones, star on ‘Remember the Titans’ football team, dies at 65

Jones retired this past fall after nearly 30 years as an employee of Alexandria City Public Schools, including a long stint as a security officer at T.C. Williams. It was there that Jones rose to fame as a senior football player in 1971, helping lead the Titans on an undefeated state championship run that was later dramatized in Disney’s 2000 film “Remember the Titans,” in which actor Donald Faison played Jones.

My high school buddy Kobie Taylor’s father and DC legend passed away last week. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Roland “Fatty” Taylor was a native Washingtonian.  He grew up in NE DC and was a product of the DC Public Schools. Fatty transferred from Spingarn High School and graduated from Fairmont Heights High School in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He died in Denver, Colorado on Thursday December 7, 2017, he was 71.

Without ‘Fatty’ Taylor, there would be no ‘Iceman’

Hall of Famer George “The Iceman” Gervin made it to Denver in time to say farewell to his former teammate who gave him his famous nickname.

Josh Jackson told his father he’d done it all for him – wearing the No. 17 jersey like his dad wore at Jackson State in Jackson, Miss., playing the game between his ears the way his dad taught him, heeding his dad’s words to value the football on the field more than anything.,amp.html

They talked about this a little during the game.

Gaspar and Smith argued through the day on Oct. 31 about how much attention Smith was paying her and their relationship. While in Smith's dorm room and "feeling extremely emotional and stressed," Gaspar told police, she boiled a pot of water. Then she walked over to Smith and poured it on him.

When Smith didn't react strongly enough for her, she started hitting him with her open hands, she told police.

Gender equality in pro sports has arrived on one front!  Glory Johnson also wants Brittney to continue payments on the Benz Brittney bought her.  What about custody and child support of the not yet born twins?

Court documents filed June 29 in Maricopa County, Arizona, detail Johnson's request that Griner pay $20,000 per month in spousal support, plus a $10,000 advancement toward attorney fees for Johnson's counsel.
