Durham, North Carolina (283,506) is much larger than Birmingham, Alabama (200,733). As are a number of other North Carolina cities including Raleigh 30 minutes down the Interstate. And Durham is booming. Expand the football stadium. If it is cheaper, build a new 30,000 seat stadium. Yeah, I know this is basketball territory. If you build it, "they will come".

Any one of you with connections who can get Morehouse to stream Saturday's basketball game with SIAC champion Miles College? In fact how about streaming all of them as they once did before receiving those big donations. Yes I know, they are for academics only. However, please do what you once did before then.

Let me quickly correct a statment that I made in a recent post. "No one but Benedict and Morehouse had won the SIAC Commissioner's Cup in the last 15 years"...and there may have been others. My humble apology. Yes I should have veted my statement first.

Sports Forum / Morehouse - Fort Valley Football Game Location Changed
« on: October 11, 2021, 08:31:00 PM »
If you ignore the outdated announcment on the Morehouse home page as I have become accoustemed to doing and keep searching, the Morehouse football schedule now states that the October 16 Morehouse - Fort Valley football game will be played at CAU Panther Stadium. Oh well, it is a beautiful location. You will have to walk a few blocks, but the CAU parking deck is closer than the Morehouse parking deck.

Sports Forum / Thankyou Miles Bear

Thankyou Miles Bear for the writeup on the Miles - Morehouse football game.
From the box score on the Morehouse home page, I see that there was a fairly sizable crowd. I had to go to the Miles home page for details. What few people know is that there are only four seniors on the Morehouse football team. like my son said to me, "you are not coming back to Morehouse for a fifth year even for a athletic scholarship". You now understand the question I asked JT. Why do people attend Morehouse football games? Certainly not for the band. With your background, you can probably answer this better than anyone. The man who use to do for us what you do for Miles now works for CAU.

Does anyone know why the Morehouse - Miles football game is being played at Lakewood Stadium and not on campus?

Looking at other teams 2021 football schedules, Morehouse will not be playing Lane and Central State who we have been playing for years. So we will definitely not be moving to the west division. But who will, how are they going to work this out?

A % T: AN HBCU Powerhouse Rises in Greensboro. This February 6, 2018 article in the Atlanta-Constitution Journal written by NCCU graduate Ernie Suggs is even more relevant today. Of most importance is the support for higher education in North Carolina while it declines in neighboring states.

Politics / Postponing the November Elections
« on: August 01, 2020, 06:02:19 PM »
I am really Worried about this. The German people elected Adolf Hitler. I do not think that there was a election after then. He was also popular until the end. With the massed rally's I see similarities. The lack of funding for the post office is just a beginning. Fortunately, we have a constitution which requires an election.
I also believe that heads of our armed forces would resign before they would allow our military to move against the people. But it is scary to think that it would be attempted.

General Discussion Forum / Andre Leon Talley - Vogue Magazine
« on: June 24, 2020, 11:20:00 AM »
I just saw a BBC interview with Andre Leon Talley former American Editor of Vogue. He grew up in Durham and graduated from North Carolina Central University. I found it very interesting that in spite of the interviewers efforts to draw him out about the hardships of growing up in the segregated south and being raised by his grandmother, he made it quite clear to him that his family had been middle class. His parents were working in DC and sent money home for him.
