Sports Forum / HBCU Alums in Your Call Football League
« on: February 26, 2019, 10:06:46 AM »
Your Call Football is the league that debuted last year where fans can watch the game and pick plays for the offense to run through an app. You win money if you score higher than other players. I played it a couple times last year and it was pretty fun.

I counted 5 guys from HBCUs on the rosters

Team Power

CB - CJ Moore (NCCU)
LB - Reggie Hunter (NCCU)

Team Grit

WR - Chris Hubert (Fayetteville State)
CB - Qua Cox (Jackson State)
CB - Jacques Bryant (FAMU)

The way his teams underperformed at LSU (2012-17), I don't know if as he's as a good of coach as Mike Davis is but he definitely has a good track record dating back to his time at LSU as an assistant early in his career

I’ve been checking out this podcast recently called 1.Question. They talk to different athletic admins around the country about different issues related to their schools.

They’ve done a few with HBCU guests.

Ingrid Wicker McCree - NCCU AD

Jacqie McWilliams - CIAA Commissioner

Sherie Gordon - Albany State AD

Gordon’s was pretty interesting considering she got hired right as the consolidation with Darton State was going on.

Sports Forum / Grambling just beat Georgia Tech, 64-63 (Men's Basketball)

Grambling men's basketball team just beat Georgia Tech 64-63, GT couldn't corral a loose rebound and accidentally tipped it in. Grambling was up by as much as 16

Good win!

Sports Forum / In light of the Hampton news...who should the MEAC target?
« on: November 16, 2017, 11:58:04 AM »
Hampton is gone, we already knew SSU was out, what should the MEAC do next?

Jonathan Alexander, NCCU alum and Duke beat writer for the News Observer put this question on Twitter last night.

My 5 was:

Dom Sutton
Jordan Parks (slight edge over KJ)
CJ Wilkerson
Jeremy Ingram
Poobie Champman

What would your 5 for your school be?

From the Tallahassee Democrat:

Scanned the document and here are a few notable names
  • Rod Strickland
  • Lindsey Hunter
  • Horace Broadnax
  • Pat Kennedy (former Florida St head coach 1986-97)
  • Robert McCullum (former W Michigan and South Florida head coach)
  • Leon Douglas
  • Marquis Daniels...I wonder if it's the former NBA player
  • Wes Pifer, former NCCU assistant
  • Clifford Reed, former BCU coach

Sports Forum / Catching up with former NC A&T WR Wallace Miles
« on: March 30, 2017, 04:56:15 PM »

Figured I'd start this thread since rumors of Coach's departure have popped up every year (except last year) since 2013. I hope he stays, but who knows...

I've heard rumors of NC State ( )

Then today ESPN's Jeff Goodman tweeted

Sports Forum / Was NCCU's win over A&T the biggest in school history?
« on: November 23, 2016, 05:30:56 PM »
What do yall think?

We debated this topic on the HBCU Voice podcast (8:45 mark)

I said the 1989 D2 National Championship win was bigger win, but I know there are other Eagle alums or HBCU supporters who may say otherwise.

Other topics:

  • Our predictions of how the SWAC West will end up
  • How D2 HBCUs fared in the playoffs
  • NC A&T vs Richmond
  • A shoutout to Old Dell Beckham Joe Thomas Sr from SC State

This is a great story! Did any of the SC State supporters on the forum know about this?

I've read/posted on this forum for nearly 10 years and still don't know it. What is the correct pronunciation of Onnidan?

:-X at playing two FBS schools again, maybe the W Michigan was agreed to much earlier than last year. We've gotta take care of business in the MEAC or we'll have to wait for the Celebration Bowl again

They fired GM Ray Farmer and Sashi Brown will be the new VP of Operations and control their 53 man roster. He graduated from Hampton in 1998
