Aw Damn, JT...."So Very Hard To Go!!"      (and The Jam!)

Sounds like these suburban Atlanta school boards are afraid of teaching the truth.  But they'll absolutely embrace a brotha running a football for the local high school.

Why do people come into the bathroom on their phone? :nono2:  In most cases, it usually has a camera on it.  Gives me a bad feeling about one's respect for privacy.

He seems a bit too eager to downplay the crime, stating that he doesn't want to prosecute.  Ironic because it appears he wanted the attention.  By the way, they have yet to recover the car.  I don't see the type of leadership in him (yet) that is necessary to lead the city.

Hey, JT...what about the young brotha that "made it rain?" :snicker

^^^^^^I kinda like this.

That's some family, right there.  Best wishes, Lynn!

Oh no you didn't, JT!!!  Went to see the Bar-Kays at the Omni in January 1978, in one of my favorite concerts.  Cameo opened, followed by the Bar-Kays, then  Parliament-Funkadelic closed the show.  I gotta say, I enjoy this so much because all three groups had a horn section, and I was into my judgement phase at that time.  Young, impressionable wanna-be-on-da-road-with-a-funk-band phase of my life.  Of course, I was a freshman at Morehouse, so my parents weren't hearing none of that.

By the way...later in March, I caught Ray Parker, Jr., ConFunkShun and Bootsy! They funked up da Omni!

:thefan: Screen cleaning moment...I just "got" the message in your footer, JT! ;D  Now I gotta go back to Starbucks for a refill.

I'll read the article, but wanted to weigh in on this supposed nationwide effort to restrict the teaching of certain black history or its methodology.  Maybe I didn't say it right, but I find it appalling that elected officials (or school boards) are putting so much energy into what is clearly denial, or the fear that young black students will be embolden if they "discover" their greatness. (Mansa Musa, Hatshepsut, Sojourner Truth, Malcolm X, Tubman, MLK, etc.)

I'll never forget my 10th grade experience at the CIAA.  It was held in Greensboro, and John McClendon was hosting a high-school gathering at the coliseum early one morning in conjunction with the tournament.  Most of the young students from surrounding schools didn't know who he was, but I was sitting on the front row, and he called me and one of my classmates to assist with a poster he was displaying.  He also then talked about basketball drills and had the two of us demonstrating proper defensive stances, dribbling, bounce passes, etc.

After we finished, he asked for our home addresses...and sent us a box of Converse basketball shoes about a month later; there were about 7 or 8 pair in my box.  I gave many of them away, but kept one pair of black, low-cut Chuck Taylors.  I played my junior year in those shoes...and thought I was Phil Ford.

By the way, my brother's team (R.J.Reynolds High - Winston-Salem) played for the state championship before the CIAA championship game that Saturday...and WON!  But then, Norfolk State's Eugene Cunningham hit a long shot at the buzzer to beat WSSU.  :dedhorse: That shot would've counted as a 3-pt shot today.
