Politics / Mike Pompeo a REAL POS

Pompeo curses out reporter after question on impeachment scandal: ‘Do you think Americans care about Ukraine?'

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo cut an interview short, cursed out a reporter and bizarrely demanded that she point out Ukraine on a map after she asked him Friday about a matter at the heart of President Trump’s impeachment.

The hot-headed secretary exploded after NPR’s Mary Louise Kelly asked him whether he owed an apology to Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine who was abruptly removed by Trump last year after she expressed concern about his plot to pressure the country into opening investigations of his Democratic rivals.

“I agreed to come on your show today to talk about Iran,” Pompeo fumed.

But the reporter pointed out that she had confirmed with Pompeo’s staff that she would ask questions about Ukraine, in addition to Iran.

“I’ve defended every single person on this team. I’ve done what’s right for every single person on this team,” Pompeo insisted.

Asked for a specific instance in which Pompeo offered a defense for Yovanovitch, the secretary demurred.

“I’ve said all I’m going to say today,” he bristled before cutting the interview short and leaving the room.

But Pompeo wasn’t done.

Kelly said on the air that Pompeo brought her into his private living room after the mics were turned off and began shouting at her.

“He was not happy to have been questioned about Ukraine,” she said. “He asked, ‘do you think Americans care about Ukraine?’ He used the F-word in that sentence and many others."

Then came the map moment.

“He asked if I could find Ukraine on a map,” Kelly said. “I said ‘yes,’ and he called out for aides to bring us a map of the world with no writing. I pointed to Ukraine.   He put the map away. He said, ‘People will hear about this.’"

Pompeo is expected to travel to Ukraine next week.

A spokeswoman for the secretary did not return a request for comment.

I admit to wondering what the heck he (a non-AA) meant by his statement:  African-Americans are "Not Traditionally Black."

But for sure, I did not take it as a compliment.

Ran across this article this morning and perhaps it explains it.  The title of the article is mostly related to white women with Black women friends:

5 Phrases Your Black Friend Wishes You’d Stop Saying by Ajah Hales

QUOTE

4. “You’re not really Black.”
When I was younger and deeply ensconced in “talented tenth” mentality, I used to consider this a compliment. After all, I knew what people meant by it: I was well-spoken, intelligent, cultured, respectable. I was all of the things their limited interactions with Blackness taught them most people who looked like me were not.

Every metric my White friends have ever used to measure my Blackness is rooted in false stereotypes. There is nothing exceptional about a Black woman who reads or listens to John Mayer or excels at chemistry or likes beach vacations. Your Black friend enjoying the same activities as you doesn’t make her less Black, but your thinking it does makes you less cultured.

Americans, whether Black or White, have a toxic relationship with race, privilege, and power, and that relationship is sustained in large part by collective denial and willful ignorance. [Italics in the original.]
UNQUOTE

Perhaps, he will want to 'clear up' what he meant...

Of course your link is no good.

I HAVE ENCOUNTERED THAT KIND OF BS MY ENTIRE LIFE. I USED TO STOP AND CONFRONT IT.  NOW, I SIMPLY LOOK AT THE INDIVIDUAL, SHAKE MY HEAD AND WALK AWAY.  I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR DESIRE TO EDUCATE EVERY IGNORANT a**  IN THE WORLD.

I get I talk white by a lot of Blacks.  When I ask them to explain talking white and/or talking Black they normally get angry.

Shiiiittttt, I'm surprised.  You know damn well you said THANK YOU and smiled.

Let's review AGAIN

I have always voted for the person.  I will not vote a straight party ticket.  That is the easiest way to get burned.  I was a member of the NRA when I was a demovrat.  I have been to democratic functions and got the 'What is he doing here' looks from whites.

This month I'm going to campaign for a democrat who is in a runoff.

Another thing, I vote for the person that is best for me and Mrs. y.
I could care less about other Blacks and other people.  Too bad too many people on board don't understand that.

The stupidity and bizarre behavior of people today is outrageous.

It's probably been like this since forever, we just know about every damn thing today because of tech.

They have not stopped taking coupons, they are just not as important to shoppers and retailers as they use to be. Stores compensate with value cards, and in Food Lion's case, instant coupons and in-store kiosks.  Harris Teeter also has e-vic specials that run from Fri-Sun.

They had to do this because newspapers use to be the biggest source for coupons.

I think you should just say, "coupons aren't important to me".

Coupons are in the Sunday papers at the same rate they were when newspapers weren't in the stress they face now. The loyalty cards are just an improvement on cutting & carrying them.  Many of Harris Teeters loyalty card coupons are the same ones you clip from the newspaper. You can really get a deal if their e-Vic special also has a manufacturers coupon being offered during the eVic special.

I can't speak to Food Lion because I only go there to buy one or two items I can't find elsewhere. I do scan Food Lion's loyalty card out of habit.

You are missing the point. They are still in the Sunday paper, but fewer people are getting the paper, therefore manufacturers are seeking other ways of getting those tiny little ads in the customers hands This is why you get a stack of them in the mail now.

Well say it plain and I'll get it.....maybe

I'll agree that newspaper subscriptions are down, but people still look for those cents off over the course of a year you'll have saved some money depending on your spending.

I don't get coupons for grocery items in the mail.  You probably mean something else based on your posting history.  Do you proof read your posts?

There will still be people not able to be cashless. What are they supposed to do?

You might not want to use your cashless option and pay cash. I do it on occasion. You should have an option.

I don’t know what grocery stores you shop at but I doubt they have stopped taking clipped coupons.

You shop Harris Teeter they still have double coupons I think everyday up to .99 and they run doubles on up to 2.00 maybe once a month.  That only applies to newspaper coupons.  On your shoppers card you have to manually enable them in the app and I don’t think they’re doubled.

Of course you’ll probably do better at Wally World or Target with your coupons MOST days.

Excellent movie.

If he wears dreads to school everyday he should graduate wearing dreads.  He's done nothing wrong.

Maybe you can go advocate for this young man & his family since you know the mindset of trump supporters and white supremacy.

Prove they are supporters of your president, Donald John Trump.  You have not proved white supremacy.  I have no idea what the mindset is.  I'm no mind reader.

Look, if you don't want to help the young man we understand.

10
And the whistleblower colluded with Schiff. Oh, it's going to come out.....

yeah, your ass

Whatever he does will not change my vote against him.

I am shocked they would do that.

White Castle brings back memories. You'd have to back a bagful to get your fill.  Of course during my time they were about 12¢ a piece.

What do they sell for now? Krystals isn't around these parts.

Ava worked for CBS fox and Savoy pictures before making movies. Ryan attended the school for cinema arts at USC. Debbie majored in theater at Howard   the star of black panther majored in theater production at Howard.  Tyler did not have that experience.  He started working out of a car writing plays . Sort of two kinds of doctors.  One may have learned their trade in the bush or jungle and the other went to medical school.  Even though both may be excellent physicians I would  not expect the bush trained doctor to perform robotic or laser surgery.

....there is a good possibility that being self made it's difficult to delegate tasks. He could very well be a micro manager self made or not. Tyler not joining the ranks of Gordon Parks, Ava, Singleton, etc. is not a tragedy.  As a matter of fact its good to see someone avoiding the Peter Principle.
