To my friends and family that have seen my many tweets, facebook posts, emails, and phone calls, I wanted to take a moment to thank you so much.  Thank you so much from me and my teammates.  The response has been incredible and we are in the final 24 hours of this incredible journey.  We have received a lot of great ideas and feedback along the way.  Please feel free to share this email with all of your friends and family as well.  If you want to join us for the final 24 hours, we are streaming live at:

Now that we are in the final 24 hours you can still help out in many ways.  You can continue to purchase shares (for free) of our company in the Startup Bus Stock Market Game.  To do so, please do the following easy steps:

1.    Click this link:
2.    Login with your Facebook account

You can also tell other people to do so because for every person you get to join the fun, you get another $1 that you can invest back in to our company.

The second way you can help us is when later on this afternoon when our pitch and website go live, you go to our website check out our concept and vote for our pitch.  More information will be posted about that later on this afternoon.

Last but not least, this would not at all be possible without our local and national sponsors:

Baton Rouge Team Creates Goal-Setting Startup on the StartupBus

BATON ROUGE, LA (March 9, 2011) –

Four Baton Rouge entrepreneurs participating in the StartupBus competition - Dr. James Davis, co-founder of Peoplenetz; Brian Jackson, Creative Design Director at Nerjyzed Entertainment; Logan Leger, an LSU SEI Fellow and owner of NewAperio; and Jared Loftus, owner of Tiger District and Taco de Paco - have developed a socially-integrated goal visioning site that helps users map out goals, stay accountable to those goals, and get their friends involved in the process. is a collaborative networking application that allows goal-setters to increase the likelihood of accomplishing their goals by sharing them. By connecting to Facebook and Twitter, the site will seamlessly facilitate peer encouragement and searching of others with similar goals. A mobile app will send reminders of deadlines and use gaming practices to encourage continued utilization of the site.

Terry Jones of the Regional Innovation Organization said “The national StartupBus competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase our region’s entrepreneurial talent and the great support and vibe of our entrepreneurial community to the rest of the nation.  The Baton Rouge team is working hard around the clock to win the competition and is looking good.” RIO and the Baton Rouge team invite everyone to come out hang with some really cool technology entrepreneurs from around the country for free food and drink at 6:30 at Embassy Suites located at 4914 Constitution Avenue.  The StartupBus is an entrepreneurial adventure that places twenty-five strangers traveling together on a bus over forty-eight hours from different destinations to Austin, Texas for the annual South by Southwest® festival. The Participants form teams and build business plans based on ideas presented when they first get on the bus. They complete the business plans during the trip and once at the festival, the top teams present their ideas to venture capitalists in an attempt to receive funding. The team from Baton Rouge is traveling on the bus originating in Miami. They will be stopping in Baton Rouge tonight as they join the StartupBus that started their journey in New York City.

Barron H. Harvey, Ph.D., CPA, Dean and Frank Ross/KPMG Endowed Professor, School of Business Howard University stated, “This is a very special opportunity and I am very happy to have an HUSB alum (Brian Jackson) holding up the banner.”  Chris Washington, Vice President of Membership for the Howard University Alumni Association added, “I have known Brian for some 20+ years.  I am really excited to have a fellow Bison as part of this event.”

You can help their chances in being selected as one of the top teams by going to and playing the stock market game that allows you to use virtual funds to invest in their company found here:

I just wanted to let you know that as an HBCU Alum (BBA, Howard University, 1992), I am proud to let you know that I have been selected to represent Baton Rouge on The Start Up Bus Challenge.  If you are not familiar with the Start Up Bus, please see the website

Next Monday, March 7th, I fly to Miami to board the bus.  I will travel for 48 hours with other entrepreneurs, whom I will meet for the first time when I get on the bus, create a team of 4-7 people, come up with a concept, create a business plan, create a marketing plan, and pitch the idea.  The pitch will be filmed and posted on the internet.   There are 6 other buses from other cities doing the same thing at the same time.  The top pitches by internet vote will then be given an opportunity to pitch the ideas in Austin to potential investors.

On the Bus leaving Miami, as of right now, I am the only person from an HBCU on the bus as well as the only African American.

I will be tweeting (@MrBCFX) and facebooking during the journey.

I plan on representing HBCUs well in this historic event.

Wish me luck!

The Drum / Re: Did anyone Buy BCFX YET
« on: October 14, 2009, 08:23:38 PM »
We did not "exclude" any schools from BCFx - The Black College Football video game.

We have made and continue to make efforts to contact and engage every HBCU that has both a football team and a band to be a part of this historic one-of-a-kind sports experience.  The reality is not every school has responded to our efforts over the past three years to include them in the game.

We must have a license agreement to include HBCUs in the game which gives us the right to use their name, likeness, logos, etc. in the game, as well as we need their cooperation to obtain various assets from the football, band and sports information departments to authentically represent them in the game.

Our agreements with HBCUs provide royalty compensation as well as exposure to a broad audience to help support and promote these great institutions.  In addition to Langston, Central St, and EWC there are other HBCU schools that we are continuing to engage and include in future versions of BCFx, and it is our hope that after seeing and experiencing The Doug Williams Edition of BCFx for the XBox 360, all HBCUs with football teams and bands will be more compelled to get in the game.

Please post all feedback, both good and bad.  We want to make the game the best for you all.  If you want to view some pictures of some of the people that have bought the game already, take a look at our blog that we set up so that people could send in photos of them playing the game.
