Police confirm Ujiri identified himself to deputy, showed credentials

TORONTO, ON - JUNE 17: Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri looks on during the Toronto Raptors Victory Parade on June 17, 2019 in Toronto, Canada. The Toronto Raptors beat the Golden State Warriors 4-2 to win the 2019 NBA Finals.
Masai Ujiri did present NBA identification to the sheriff's deputy who refused to allow him onto the Oracle Arena court after the Toronto Raptors' NBA Finals victory, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office told Robyn Doolittle of The Globe and Mail.

The Raptors president of basketball operations was involved in an altercation with the deputy following Game 6. Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Ray Kelly said last week that the deputy tried to stop Ujiri from entering the court because he "had no credential displayed, and our deputy asked for his credential."

The Sheriff's Office has now also confirmed that Ujiri told the deputy what his role with the team was before their confrontation.

Sports Forum / NFL: expansion playoffs - not the regular season
« on: June 04, 2019, 04:08:54 PM »
Instead of expanding the regular season to 18 games; how about expanding the playoffs instead from 12 to 14.

The top seeds from each conference -- the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots - have the week off.
Instead of joining those teams on a bye, however, the No. 2 seed Green Bay Packers are hosting the No. 7 Philadelphia Eagles in the first round. The AFC's No. 2 seed is also in action, so the Denver Broncos are preparing to host the No. 7 Houston Texans.

Wildcard Weekend:
Saturday

AFC 3 vs 6 @4PM
AFC 4 vs 5 @7PM
Sunday

AFC 2/7 winner vs 3/6 winner late game

FIFA Council votes for the introduction of a revamped FIFA Club World Cup

Pilot edition of the 24-team tournament to be organised in June/July 2021
Overhauled competition to occupy the international match calendar slot that corresponded to the FIFA Confederations Cup
The FIFA Council approved the establishment of a new landmark club competition: a revamped, 24-team FIFA Club World Cup, the pilot edition of which will be held in June and July 2021. The decision was taken today, during the ninth meeting of FIFA’s strategic and decision-making body, in Miami. There were 25 votes in favour of and seven against the proposal.

The revamped FIFA Club World Cup will be played during the international match calendar slot that corresponded to the FIFA Confederations Cup. In the 2021 pilot edition, the 24 teams will be split into eight groups of three teams each, with the group winners to qualify for the quarter-finals in a knockout format.
