Good to see nice facility upgrades.

I went to LU last May to attend my nieces graduation. Beautiful campus and all that but the feeling there was odd. Also Mike Pence was there so security was EXTRA tight. One thing my niece told me with all her assignments was that it had to somehow incorporate the use of the bible in every assignment.

Sports Forum / Re: Why the CIAA Tournament is Trapped in Charlotte

Point blank the CIAA should be getting way more than they currently receive vs the amount of economic impact they bring to the city/county. At the minimum the CIAA should be receiving 10% of the economic impact even that is only a drop in the bucket.

Our children do play soccer and yes it can become costly. My son played on a travel team for the past two years and my experience varied. The first season went pretty well but at the final tournament we played 3 games to reach the championship. My son played in the Friday night game, Saturday game (He scored), but not at all in the Sunday Final. Now in the final the coach did not substitute any players the whole game and we lost in a shoot out..SMH...Just my opinion but if players were substituted like the other team fresh legs would have been on the field and we could have had an advantage...but what do I know. I'm just a parent.

This past season my son was benched for any little mistake that was made on the field. Now granted the starters could make the same mistakes and they would continue to play. Now this was the same coach from the past season. But you could tell the coaches favorite kids and the lil soccer clique of parents/coaches. Personally I don't have time for that kind of crap. But it's all good bc I do it for my son and he doesn't see all that but he does ask why are they always hugging and coddling X player(s). Needless to say we won't be playing soccer this season due to the shenanigans that we had this past season. We were offered a spot by another coach that wanted to coach my son in the 1st place bc he can see his footwork and athletic abilities but we turned that down for now bc you have to commit to fall and spring ball. My son really wants to try football and his mom finally said yes so we are going to try football this fall. We may still play rec soccer in the spring just to keep him in the game. But that won't be too fair bc he dominated the last time he played. But he loves soccer and sports in general and I'll do what it takes to be sure he is happy..As long as his grades stay tight!!

On another note. When we have traveled to different areas to play, other coaches have come up to me and said "Is that your son...He has good foot work" granted it's not hard to see bc we are 1 of two African American's on the team along with 2 Hispanics but the only thing our coach focuses on with him is his first touch. We work on touches at home, with his soccer wall but it's not the same as live action. Funny thing is at this age. We are just trying different things to see what he really likes. Some of the kids on his team play soccer only every day all day. Sorry but that's not us. We need a well rounded athlete in all areas bc we feel that skills learned in another sport can help in other areas too. We preach to him that athletics are fun but your academics come first and foremost. Our goal is for him to receive an academic scholarship to college if he is so lucky to go to the next level on a scholarship that's even better but it's not his end all be all.

Sports Forum / Re: ECSU fires AD, men's basketball coach

The new interim AD Mr Mackey just announced his retirement at the CIAA Basketball Tournament.  Time has passed him up on the new way of doing business in athletics. ECSU is in a total disarray in Athletics and Student Enrollments. What a mess at ECSU.

Actually not! Our enrollment is on an upward trend. Shakeups in athletics happen all the time. There is always a reason for change.  I am ALL IN with my VIKINGS! CHANGE IS GOOD!

I can understand a 1st year coach wanting her own players but how many coaches come in and have to work with players from the previous staff.  All of them. I don't see many of them taking this kind of sweeping action. I think ECSU womens coach did it a couple of years ago and how did that work out for them?

Coach LaQuanda Dawkins did that same mess..... had a terrible she gone!!!

ECSU was on the verge of either closing or having their accredition removed.  They are the only HBCU that wanted the $500 tuition change all the other HBCUs that were targeted fought against.  That does not kick in until fall of 2018 so it remains to be seen.  Its them, UNCP and Western Carolina that is involved. UNCP and WCU all said they did not want it but took it anyway.  Money is tight there.  Maybe things are turning around down there.  See this.

^^ This is exactly how lies get out ^^

Yes things are looking up for ECSU. We are looking to keep our trend of increased enrollment moving upward.

ECSU was not going to close and will not be closing.

We only received a warning from SACS and it was removed Dec 2017. Our accreditation was NEVER on probation so we were no where close to loosing our accreditation.

I wouldn't be surprised if they targeted Virginia State. I remember reading them going DI in their 20/20 vision plan. Look at the upgrades they have made in their facilities, student population, and academic offerings.
