Some thoughts from The HU Pirateship on our time in the Big South and what might be in store for NCA&T:

Listening to those two guys from Hampton talk is just sad.  But Hampton still wants to play some MEAC teams.  If the Big South is so much better, lose our numbers.  We are not good enough for you Big South folks. ::)  Talking about selling out.

Just take one look at that school in Greensboro Athletic Director and you can see why A&T sold out. Now tell me that dude has the black community at heart? He's basically saying that playing a few HBCUs a year is okay. The MEAC schools they stop playing are no longer good enough. Every reason he and that dump a**  chancellor are giving for moving is shading both the MEAC schools and the black community in Greensboro. This is a total sellout and every black college should stop playing them. This is far more important to just sports. HBCUs relationships with each other are the hearts and souls of the black community. Those Aggies trying to justify this move are also sellouts.

Some of y'all are looking wayyyyy too deep into this....Especially for this to be a school that y'all hate so much....

The hate that you speak of is not really hatred for the school but a dislike of the sports. There is a huge difference. Outside of sports they are our brothers with the same historical background. We share in the idea of providing blacks with educational opportunities, that was and still, aren't available to us for the most part. Some of us recognize that we need each other to survive. That school belongs to "ALL" blacks. Its not theirs to give up. We should all be upset.

They should stop using those sellouts from Greensboro jerseys. This should be for HBCUs that love each other like family.

At first I thought this was an fantastic idea, until I noticed that WSSU was not represented. Everybody knows the entire HBCU World evolves around WSSU.

I have seen almost everyone on the men's side, and I didn't see a clear cut best team. Anybody can win this thang. But if Livingstone is in a close game you better watch out for that little guard. He can do it all by himself. We (WSSU) and VSU have a couple of guys that can flat out play.

Sports Forum / Re: NCCU Should Leave MEAC

NCCU, NSU, or SCSU moving to the Big South would hurt the school.  The reason being is how we fund our programs.  Schools in the Big South have large supporters to support their programs, and we depend on selling tickets to football game and basketball money games for support.  We not only depend on our fans for tickets sales, we depend on the visiting team’s fans for ticket sales. I do not believe we would be able to do this in the Big South.  This is the reason NCCU and A&T will continue to play.

A&T has great fan support and should do well in the Big South as long as they are winning.  But if they stop winning and the fan support drops, they will have trouble supporting their programs.  For example, Hampton lost badly to the third-place team in the CIAA Northern division last year.

You are 100% correct in what you are saying. It takes money to sustain anything for long periods of time. However, it takes more than winning to maintain a supportive fan base. WSSU was winning in a big way, but our game average was much lower because we were not playing a schedule our fans wanted to see. Interest fell off dramatically when NCCU and A&T stopped coming to WSSU. The rival games made people want to see the non rivals because of the good times they had watching rival.

Student fees is really whats funding our programs not ticket sales. Just student fees won't allow HBCUs to keep up with the alumni giving that PWS have.

No. It's not surprising. Now look at folks' comments about the CIAA moving to Baltimore.

We are talking about just one game being played just across town and they can't hide their Trumpish feelings. I can't imagine if they had to play in the same conference and all sports had to visit Southerns campus. Its not like Southern is some dump... in fact, its one of our better HBCUs. What are the fans of the Big South saying about going to Hampton?

If you don't get in Brayboy during the first half of the women's game you will not have a seat for the men's game!

You're right. That's why I can't make it tonight. 5:00 is too late be be leaving Winston-Salem. There are about four gyms in the CIAA that if you don't get there before the ladies game you won't get in for the men's.

1. WSSU
2. Livingstone College
3. JCSU
4. Shaw

It's going to be off the chain.  I hope we house them because we know if it's close..............SOMEthing is going to happen.  I'm tempted to go down, but knowing B Ford is jacked up right now, I think I'll watch the stream.

What stream?

Southern is going to make HBCUs look good. For a small school, its stadium is one of the best on its level of play. Southern is a class act.

Sports Forum / Re: NC A&T vs NCCU BBall

The color(ed) commentator from last night was King McClure.  He played at Baylor last year.  He talked about how intimidating it was for him to play at Phog Allen Fieldhouse at Kansas.  But he said the atmosphere at Corbett was like games when he was in high school. WTF??  Emmit Smith said the same thing a few years ago about the Bayou Classic.  These N-words who would not even consider attending an HBCU need to stay away from our games.  I have been to many high school games (including Dudley vs. Ben L. Smith and Dudley vs. Hillside) they are never as loud and crazy as it gets at a rivalry HBCU game like NCCU vs. A&T.

I've been to high school games that were louder than Aggie-Eagle.

If Emmett was talking about the fans he might have had a point.  He'd been wrong about the bands.  Those white people lose their dam minds at football games.

They need to go to a WSSU home game. It doesn't matter who we play, it is live.

That's because they stole our coach.   :nono2: The coach that was winning the CIAA Women's Track and Cross Country every year while at WSSU.

Wow, I didn't know the Coach came from Winston.  I guess when Bennett went to FSU he brought and/or convinced nearly everyone at Winston to come to FSU with him.  Very Interesting.
[/quote]

They are now like WSSU South and WSSU is like NCCU West!

did you mean to say Big South and bowl games?  Not aware they played bowl games

Now these fools think they are joining the Sun Belt.   :lmao:

The aggies are leaving the MEAC and begging to play us?  If not playing one game going to hinder us, we are already in trouble.  Just leave and play your pwc schools.  I mean, they are better for your school, right?  I know I am not the one to make that decision, but if I was, I would not be interested.

I'm so proud of my Lady Broncos.

You should be. They have come a long way very fast.

That's because they stole our coach.   :nono2: The coach that was winning the CIAA Women's Track and Cross Country every year while at WSSU.
