I don't think this game diminishes what Bowie has accomplished this year, nor do I personally feel my comment relayed that. As I said they just picked a bad time to play their worst game. I don't buy the fact that Valdosta was so much better, I just think Bowie didn't play their game.
I watched Bowie play before and they played nothing like they have this season or in the past IMHO. Valdosta might have been a better team but Bowie self-destructed from the start. Bad snaps, poor tackling, bad throws, poor DB play is what lost this game by that much.
Bowie picked the wrong time to play their worst game of the season.
I THINK IT WAS MORE THAT THEY SIMPLY PLAYED A BETTER TEAM TODAY. REMEMBER THAT WAS THE FIRST LOSS TO A D2 TEAM IN WELL OVER A YEAR.
Ay man, stuff happens. Very few teams in any level of any sport go through an entire season without stubbing their toes.
It ain't like we went out like a bunch of Willie Lump Lumps. We went out there and knocked off 2 programs a lot of people said we couldn't, straight punched them in the mouth and knocked them out. We would have had to have played the PERFECT game to beat VSU today, and we were far from it. Ish happens.
No bitterness on my end. These boys balled out with a QB who has been playing on one leg for his last 4 games, and with just one solid horse of a running back and still went 12-2. Despite today's butt-cuttin', I would say we have more than earned our respect this fall.
What excuses do you have for Fayetteville State University losing in the CIAA Championship game for the past four seasons?
Congratulations to the Bulldogs of Bowie State University on an outstanding season.
