On a side note, how much of the decline can be attributed to a decline in students from other countries.   Some are not coming due to the current person at 1600. :tiptoe:

Uhmm care to clarify?  I'm not sure I understand the question.  Or was it one?

He’s saying there is a possibility that decline in the # of foreign students at our schools could be attributed to the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  Okay.  Now I get it.

Thanks

Neymar,

You are delusional all these ship wrecks are on the same Sea.  Morehouse financial woes along are a mess.  The physical condition of that campus alone... :tiptoe:

Morehouse campus looks a hell of a lot better than Savannah State's, and it also doesnt smell like farts the way that city does.

Also your topic isnt about the condition of Morehouse's campus. Its about kids not falling for the scam of bad schools now.

Not disparaging a fellow HBCU, because that is Neymar's job.  But Neymar needs a reality check.

Neymar if you truly believe that Morehouse campus is aesthetically more pleasing than Savannah State's  :lmao: then you are beyond delusional, you are committable.  The facilities are mostly antiquated (and not in a good way), the dormitories are traditional and unforgivable for 2019, heck 2000 even.  Most of the dorms have a prison like feel.  I am impressed with a few of their students, but the bulk are average to say the least.  With a 75% acceptance rate, you are rated non selective. Pretty much anybody who will commit to foot the high bill will get in.  Not too mention your roll-over and payment plans for tuition semester to semester, Morehouse has suffered financially in some instances barely operating and keeping the lights and water on due to tuition not being paid.

Most of your graduates complain of their astronomical student loan debt after graduation or dropping out.  Many regret it, because it's not like Morehouse graduates straight out of college are earning six figures.  For the most part they would have to seek post baccalaureate degrees to reach their earning potential.

Believe it or not before Cheryl Dozier screwed Savannah State up we were attracting a lot of Morehouse transfers for that very reason, too much money for the degree.

Fact is Morehouse, Savannah State, Fort Valley and Albany are all great institutions.  Your false sense that Morehouse is better, is just that, some false sense of reality steeped in your own low self esteem, in a need to self-elevate yourself, due to your own insecurities and shortcomings.

I have no reason to call anyone's school trash.  Any institution of higher learning is good.  All these institutions are much better than the prison yards where at least 1/4 of our young men end up matriculating anyway.

Neymar, get it together brother.

II can tell you that I totally agree with the Reaction syndrome.  But to be fair I can assure you that there have been discussions with the System’s office between the years 2008-present with documentation making the case for GA HBCU’s. We even filed a federal lawsuit with a very detailed complaint in 2010 but withdrew it for tactical reasons.   I guess what I’m saying is they (USG BOR) have already made up their minds that absent federal pressure, these three (HBCU's) institutions will only be allowed to offer programs with limited assignments.  I believe their plan might in the future give Albany State a little lead-way, as it seems they are trying to make Albany the designated HBCU - due to their unattractive location - Southwest Georgia (the black belt having no financial implications for them.)

I just don’t want you to think that all of us have been just sitting here eating watermelon and drinking mint julep during our demise.  There has been resistance.  It might not be as widespread and as know as it should be.  But clearly continuous talks with the BOR and Systems office is an exercise in futility, even when coupled with logical facts and strategic requests for key academic programming.

This Senator Bill, calling for a separate System of governance, is a cry for help and a form of resistance by a State legislator who worked for years on the state Senate's Higher Education Committee.  He didn’t just wake up one morning and decided that this was a good idea.  This is years of him having tried to work with the System’s office to improve GA HBCU’s and finally realizing that the powers within the current System just don’t want good thriving HBCU’s in this State.  The bill was born out of frustration and realization that this current System see these three schools as serving only in a remedial function.   Limited in resources and scope for a very limited segment of the population, with inability to compete with the best and the brightest institutions of excellence, rather to be Chance Universities.

So you see, this is their plan and this is our fate under their System.  Period.  It's either that we are okay with that or we are not.

EB,

Chancellor Steve Wrigley, University System of Georgia (Board of Regents) was approached by the Law School Dean in Savannah who indicated that he wished for Savannah State University to take over the law school and Wrigley told them NO.  Savannah State will not have a law school or any professional school under his watch.  The same is true for the other two.  Not long ago, I believe Albany requested a pharmacy program and was shot down, Fort Valley lobbied a school of Aviation or something like that and was shot down.  Guess who got the Aviation school now - Middle Georgia State University.

This was all done by this SYSTEM that nobody wants to leave .  They are killing us and we are seemingly okay with staying on their plantations as glorified junior colleges.

This is sad.  Each of these institutions are over 100 years old and deserve better.  They don't even really look like real Universities.  But the people are seemingly content and want to stay.  At this juncture I don't even see what we have to lose by advocating a separate system in order to lobby State legislatures for more funding and having a board that prioritize the funding and funding model to benefit HIGHER LEARNING and advanced programming.

I think that the schools need to let the chancellor and the rest of the state officials know their feelings on the treatment of these schools.  It has been discussed before (thread).  This time have all of the facts together and be clear and concise.

This were certainly not great under the democrats.  To me as someone who is a graduate of an out of state HBCU, things look worse to me under the republicans.  I think that the evidence is in the HBCUs favor.

EB
No disrespect but,
Do you really think that we haven’t done this?  More importantly, do you really think they are that oblivious to the needs and deficiencies of GA HBCU’s?
Think about this now

Neymar,

:lmao:  Are you still under some grand delusion that Morehouse is actually some good school for kids with options?
