.......you almost TOTALLY disregarded just about everything I stated cuz you likely have an inferiority complex being a negro man in America. And you are uncomfortable if other black folks achieve certain levels of success.

You have this EXALTED view of the SEC, seemingly oblivious to the legion of black ballers who have been and continue to be CRUCIAL in raising that conference to the profile it has today. Yes, I would have liked to have seen an obviously talented QB like Caylin play for another HBCU. But if it doesn’t work out for him on the Plains, so be it. But I certainly won’t be reveling in the fact if things do NOT go well, as no doubt you most certainly would.

Referring to Caylin Newton as “boy” is simply a “colloquialism,” prevalent in the south, that I use all the time referencing men of EVERY stripe. But, again, the use of the word conjures up certain negative connotations for “old black dudes” like you, and I get that as well.

Btw, from one old dude to another, there is nothing “admirable” about an older brutha hatin’ on a younger brutha for pursuing opportunities that were simply not available to an older generation of black men.

Again, trust me, I know.  :(

just because i tell the "truth" don't mean i'm hating on the brutha.  again, i don't have a dog in the fight.  so i don't have a reason to hate on the brutha.

like i previously said, i truly wish him the best and i honestly mean that.  since i'm a carolina panthers fan, his brutha cam is one of my favorite qb's in the nfl.  so i'm not hating on the young man.

but again, anybody who thinks the level of competition in the meac is even "remotely" comparable to the world's best college football conference (sec), obviously doesn't know very much about college football.  might wanna visit a very good "shrink" and get checked out.

the "sec" by far ain't the "meac", not even remotely close!  if auburn really thought he had a chance to beat out their top 2 qb's, they would've "easily" found a scholarship for cam jr.  that's why i said he's gonna have to "prove himself" and i don't know too many "credible" college football analysts who would dispute that...

wish him the best of luck, but he'll be lucky to ever see the football field in a real game as a qb at auburn.  pretty obvious he's gonna have to prove himself just to get on the field at auburn, much less start.

dude really must have confidence in himself because he could've easily found a starting job at an fcs school...”.
???......no disrespect, bruh, but your comment suggests this boy is just gonna show up on the Plains, wholly resting on Big Brother’s legacy and laurels.  You state stuff like this boy has “to prove himself,” and “must have confidence in himself“.

Well......HELL YEAH!! This boy set BOTH Bison AND Meac football on fire during his short stint under center for the Bison. He was freaking Meac Player of the Year. Wouldn’t that give YOU confidence you can play QB in the SEC?

Look, I don’t know what the exchanges/interactions have been with other schools prior to this boy making this announcement about Auburn. No doubt Mr. Newton, Sr. has been involved as he was for Cam after Cam was kicked off the Gators roster.

But, I gotta tell you, I have been on Howard’s yard and I have been on the Plains. They are, culturally, LIGHT YEARS apart. If this boy wants to go down there and ball for those bible and gun ‘toting peckerwoods, then........God bless him.  :o

first of all, you calling him a "boy" is more disrespectful than me saying he won't see the field at auburn.

secondly, anybody who thinks the level of "competition" in the meac is anywhere remotely close to the level of competition in the most talented and competitive conference in the country which happens to be the "sec", either needs their "head examined" or else they must be on that "stuff"!

thirdly, if auburn respected his game so much, they would've offered him a "scholarship" rather than have him "walk-on" and pay his own way.

i don't know what kool-aid you're drinking, but you must have too much "sugar" in it.  i'm not disrespecting the brutha, rather i wish him the absolute best.  but at the same time, let's be real.  as much as i luv the meac, comparing meac football to the "best" college football conference in america is absolute "nutts"!!  :brickwall:

jordan is "clearly" the goat, nobody else can touch him.  but shoot, i question bron being #2 on that list because only 1 of his championships (with cleveland) was "earned" the right way.  i don't even count his miami championships because he "hand picked" an all star team that included himself along with 2 of the top 5 players (wade, bosh) in the nba at that time.

to me, both bron and kd took "short cuts" to win their championships...

For some reason I enjoyed going to the Central vs Fairmont Heights games the most!

fairmont heights has a "brand new" high school now and the new gym is very nice.  i've refereed quite a few high school basketball games there...

We probably crossed paths a few times and didn't know it.  I did ref basketball one year there.  I quit because..................

its possible, but i do games across all of pg county which is a pretty big county i'm sure you know.  so i'm not at fairmont heights on a consistent basis, i might do 4 or 5 games there every season...

I wasn't referring to Fairmont Heights specifically.  As the Transportation guy, I knew all the ADs and several coaches. I reffed and umped all over the DMV including SOUTHERN Maryland.

wow, that's too much traveling for me.  not only because i drive a "gas guzzling" suv but also because i hate dmv rush hour traffic, so i only do pg county and maybe a little dc occasionally.

but southern maryland and northern virginia?  nah, too far away from my base, that's why i also don't do college ball...

this sounds like "sour grapes" to me on the part of zion's former marketing representative...

welp, our chancellor has already gone on record that a&t "will" re-open this fall barring an unforeseen widespread outbreak of covid-19.  however that doesn't mean a return to "normalcy".

but fall sports are still up in the air. so our coaches are preparing for 3 possibly 4 scenarios.  #1- prepare as normal, #2- prepare for a conference schedule only, #3- prepare for the season starting in the 2nd semester, and #4- prepare for no season at all...

i thought his story was pretty funny to me, my boy got da hail outta dodge and i woulda done the same thing.  i ain't fightin' nobody else's fight unless you fugk with my family or girlfriend...

Ohhh snarky PG comments.....sipping high tea with them pankies pointed to the sky.....

PG IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF DIVERSITY. YES, THERE ARE MORE MILLIONAIRES AND AFFLUENT AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THIS SINGLE COUNTY THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE NATION. YET ANYONE WHO TRULY KNOWS THE COUNTY ALSO KNOWS THAT THERE ARE PLACES IN THE P.G. COUNTY 'HOOD WHERE THE BROTHERS FROM SOUTHEAST D.C. AND EAST BALTIMORE COME TO TRAIN BEFORE THEY CAN BE CERTIFIED AS TRUE EAST COAST GANGSTERS. :lmao:  ASK MY SON, WHO IS A P.G. COUNTY POLICE LIEUTENANT, GREW UP AND WENT TO SCHOOL IN P.G. (HIGH POINT, H.S. AND BOWIE STATE). HE MADE HIS "BONES" KNOCKING HEADS AND THROWING HANDS WITH THEM BANGERS AND HE HAS BEEN SHOT TWICE IN PG, ANSWERING CALLS. ...AND HE STILL HE LOVES IT.  HE IS A BACHELOR AND WHEN WE TALK, I ALWAYS TELL HIM AT THE END TO TAKE CARE.  HE RESPONDS WITH "YOU BETTER TELL THEM N****** TO TAKE CARE, BECAUSE WE ARE THE POLICE" AS HE SLAMS HIS NIGHTSTICK ON THE FLOOR.  I REMEMBER WHEN HE WAS WITH THE "JUMP OUT" BOYS, HE WOULD OFTEN FLEX IN HIS TACTICAL GEAR FOR A FEW MINUTES IN FRONT OF A MIRROR BEFORE GOING ON DUTY SAYING "WE GONE GET SOME, GONE GIT SOME TONIGHT" SLAMMING HIS NIGHTSTICK IN HIS PALM. ::) ALMOST LIKE PRE-GAME HYPE BEFORE A BSU FOOTBALL GAME.  I TELL HIM HIS JOB IS SCARIER THAN ANYTHING I EVER SAW OR DID IN COMBAT.  :o :o

man, please give your son "major props" on my behalf, that's a job i could never do but i highly respect those who do, as long as they're "clean" cops.  i luv living in pg county, its almost like attending an hbcu.  most residents are educated african americans, we have really nice neighborhoods in most areas, and our culture is abundant.  there's some really nice homes in pg county and way too many "luxury" cars...

You said it all Alum 87. I saw the game when he hit the flow and came back with that terrible head injury. I also remember that championship game when "Jimmie V" ran out on the court and made a 360 while running when State won. In fact, I was wondering why the author could think that anyone did not know him.

"jimmie v" didn't coach david thompson, norm sloan coached david thompson when they won the national championship in '74.  "jimmie v" won the national championship over "phi slama jama" in '83 with derick whittenburg, thurl baily, lorenzo charles, and dem boyz...

never bought a pair of his shoes, but clearly "dt" was my favorite basketball player (at any level) when i was growing up as a kid!  i mean, this dude was my basketball "idol".  i have a scrap book full of pictures of him that i clipped out of newspaper articles when i was a little kid.

he was michael jordan before there was a michael jordan.  unfortunately, dunking was not allowed when he was in college at nc state.  but pg monte towe and dt were the first players to execute the "alley oop", though dt wasn't allowed to dunk the ball, so he'd just lay it in the basket.

i remember in one game against pitt, he jumped so high one time that his feet hit a pitt player near the shoulders and caused dt to take a very "ugly" spill and hit his head on the basketball court causing a "head injury" to dt.

too bad a knee injury and drugs ended his nba career...

Was that the game where he came back with his head bandaged and Reynolds Colisuem went nuts?

yes!  exactly...

???^^^uhhhh, CIAA and Wiregrass, I believe the young man has or will sign with HAMPTON not Howard.  ;)

I BELIEVE HE HAS SIGNED WITH HOWARD.  I DON'T BELIEVE HAMPTON HAS A LACROSSE TEAM.

howard has "women's" lacrosse, not men.  hampton has men's lacrosse...

ain't no debate, mj is the goat hands down.  bron had to go out and conspire to play with 2 of the top 5 players in the league at the time (d. wade, c. bosh).  can you imagine what jordan would've done had he had 2 of the top 5 players in the league on his team?

mj won 6 titles with the cards he was dealt, whereas the only legit title bron won without 2 of the top 5 players on his team was the one he won in cleveland...
