THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - He's known as the man with all the children - 23, to be exact.  But his name really started circling around Thibodaux after he went to court to try to get custody of his three-year-old.

41-year-old Larry Luther admits he's lived a fast life. He had his first child at 17.

"Two 3-year-olds, two 9-year-olds, one 10-year-old.  All the rest are in teens.  I have four high school graduates, three in college," said Luther.  He says as a child, there was no love in his home, so he went out and found love.

But it's one of the three-year-olds that's made Luther's name known.

Luther says he went to court to get custody of his son.  He says the child's mother is facing child cruelty charges, but because Luther's record isn't spotless, the state took the child and now wants child support.  That's after, Luther says, he was told to take parenting classes so he could get custody of the boy.

What he says makes him even more upset is what the officer at that hearing reportedly posted on Facebook: a bouncer with 23 kids and too much time on his hands just left the court. Reportedly, the officer says he never named any names.

"He made comment he didn't mention Larry's name.  But before Larry even knew about it people were calling him.  So obviously everybody knew who it was," said Melissa Billizon, who has an 11-year-old with Luther.  "I didn't think that was coming from somebody who's supposed to be a professional."

Luther says the officer told him to get another job and even gave him applications to four fast-food restaurants: McDonald's, Popeye's, Subway and Wendy's.

Luther says he supports his children on one job, as a bouncer at a nightclub in Thibodaux.  He says the bouncing made him honest.  "It paid enough for me to stop doing illegal stuff." He says he also owns rental property.

"I get money from Larry every month," said Billizon.

His point, Luther says his business should not have been posted on Facebook for everyone to see.

Luther says he goes back before the child support officer in April, for a review.  He says the officer wants him to fill out ten applications - four of them must be at fast food restaurants.

9 News reached out to the hearing officer to ask about that Facebook message.  Our calls have not yet been returned.

if he gets a job at a fast food restaurant the officer will say he doesn't have time to take care of a three year old.

i thought they could only take child support from one job.

$1,300 per month.  The article I read below also says he has rental properties that he owns free and clear, and other sources of income.

This a pretty good article from Houmatoday.com:

THIBODAUX — Larry Luther didn’t see the Facebook post by a Terrebonne Parish child-support hearing officer about a barroom bouncer appearing before him who has 23 children and “too much time on his hands.”

But people who read a Courier and Daily Comet story containing questions about the posting’s propriety had little trouble determining who the posting was about and called Luther to tell him.

Now the 41-year-old grandfather says he is preparing to file a Louisiana Judiciary Commission complaint against the hearing officer, William Dunckelman.

“I am waiting on the papers in the mail,” Luther said Friday night. “I am doing it for future purposes, for people in the future so that their things will be privately handled and what is in court stays in court.”

Dunckelman has de-activated the Facebook page that includes the post, which never mentioned Luther by name but which judicial-ethics experts say likely crossed acceptable lines of conduct such judges are obligated by law to uphold....

I have told my sons at 17 and 18 to strap up, use condoms,” Luther said. “Times are harder now than when I was coming up. A child can be a setback if you are not prepared.”

- the officer should be fired immediately...

,,,if not sooner. I don't give a dayum what goes down in court. An officer of the court should not be posting anything seen or heard in a court hearing on a social website/message board...

it ain't that sensitive, its mostly public record. And the officer didn't identify the dude by name. maybe there is another dude out there with 23 kids who just had a court case?    ;D

Sorry Mr. Soul - yes, it's a matter of public record, but how many folks are rushing to the courthouse to look up this record?

As an officer of the court, he is not suppose to post any info from court proceedings on Facebook unless it's his own court proceeding - then he can do what he wants. It doesn't matter how ridiculous this person's situation or that he did not name him - he was out of line and should be fired...
