Sooooooooo, let me break this down
1-2 Big 10’s
2-3 SEC’s
1-2 Big XII’s
1-2 Pac 12’s
1-2 ACC’s

So in reality, more peanut butter and cheddar to be spread amongst the P5 with maybe 1-2 slots for non P5’s.

Yep pretty much.  Looking at last year's standings at the end of the regular season it looks like Cincy and Coastal Carolina would have both gotten in.  Pac 12 wouldn't have had a representative.

Keep in mind they were under pressure to rank Cincy and Coastal above some P5’s. They no longer have to do that now with a 12 team playoff.

Shidd I say at least 4 SEC. The two divisional winners and the two that are second behind them

perhaps, but ya gotta remember that last season was an "anomaly" due to covid.  at the rate we're now going, "all schools" will compete this fall and thereafter.  so i don't see schools like coastal carolina being as highly ranked going forward...

you missed that little word six (6). So one of the Group of 5 Champions is also included

I looked at the final Top 25 from last year. I took out the six champions and ranked them then took the next six in the ranking and the results is more interesting than I first thought. (AP ranking in parent.)

1. Alabama (1) vs. 12. Coastal Carolina (9)
2. Ohio State (3) vs. 11. Indiana (7)
3. Clemson (2) vs. 10. BYU (13)
4. Oklahoma (9) vs. 9. Northwestern (15)
5. Cincinnati (6) vs. 8. Iowa State (12)
6. USC (21) vs. 7. TAMU (5)

like i said, last season was an “anomaly” due to covid.  don’t expect a  near repeat of those rankings in the coming years.  last season you had teams “opting out”, players “opting out”, and programs put on “pause”.  hardly a “typical” football season.

to me, all school year 2020-21 football results should come with an “asterick” attached to it due to covid...

From what I was reading the Top 4 teams get a bye, so it should be 5-12 on the matchup charts for the first week.  Also, you would need to look at the polls after the conference championship week to get a better picture, not the final polls.

Oregon won the Pac 12 not USC, but either way, the Pac 12 champ wasn't one of the Top 6 rated conference champs.

All you would need is some upsets in the Power 5 championship games, especially if the winning team was unranked.  Happened last year with Oregon, and there have been a few times where one of the teams playing in the ACC championship wasn't ranked.

all i’m saying is that there were too many “abnormalities” last season.  big 10 and pac 12 didn’t even start playing games until very “late” into the season which means they didn’t play as many games as a lot of teams.  then you had some weeks where teams had to “sit” some of their players due to covid protocol contact tracing.

i mean, i could go on and on.  the entire season should have an “asterick” next to it because it was nowhere near being a “typical” season.  that’s the point i’m making...

The Bowl people are turning in their sleep.

I doubt it.  For years now the bowl concept hasn't been as much about attendance and more about just having something to show on TV.  ESPN owns a good amount of games and the vast majority of the other bowl games have deals in place with ESPN/ABC to air the respective games.

So as long as ESPN/ABC get the rights to air most if not all these playoff games then I don't see there being any backlash from the Bowl community.

Believe it or not, I'm seeing some fcs fans actually  showing so-called concern about the amount of games this playoffs format will cause. Claiming they're concern about teams "MAYBE" playing 16 games,

agreed.  i don’t think expanding the playoffs will adversely effect most of the bowl games.  i suspect they will do the same thing that they did when they first went to the 4 team playoff.  they essentially took the 3 biggest bowl games and converted them to playoff games without changing the original name of the bowl games.

so with a 16 team playoff, i suppose they will take the 11 largest bowl games and convert them to playoff games.  first round there will be 4 games, second round will be 4 games, third round will be 2 games, and fourth round will be 1 game.  that’s 11 bowl games that can be converted to playoff games without losing the original name of each bowl game...
