Title: Oregon's student government voted to end financial contributions to athletics
Post by: klg14 on February 22, 2021, 10:52:58 AM
The University of Oregon's student government voted to end financial contributions, by way of student fees, to the athletics department. They want the money used instead to help students who are struggling financially.

When Phil Knight is your biggest alumnus. You can go without student fees.

You would think so. But this begs the question:  Why did they try to sneak the fee back in under a different name?

Exactly. Oregon can afford this. For our schools, that’s nearly the entire budget.

that fee is honestly not bad at all. but it should have been looked at a reduction during this pandemic year.  if the average student was asked to pay out of pocket for a game ticket the student sections of many stadiums/arenas would be empty.

They are crying about paying $25.50. It's not that bad.
