Kennesaw and North Alabama have ALWAYS been in the Atlantic Sun. The Big South and Atlantic Sun had an agreement for those two schools to play in the Big South until they formed their own Football conference. The A Sun wants to be a FBS conference and Liberty will join them once they make it to that level

This is will be the Big South Moving Forward

 Some of those match-ups will be tough to watch. A&T needs make sure they stay away from Pittsburgh in late late November. If they didn't like the cold in Baltimore last year, they will hate Moon Township in November.  :tiptoe:

It would be good if they dropped Robert Morris and Monmouth and picked up Howard, Norfolk State, and NC Central. It would be the first fully integrated conference and a great group of schools from an institutional standpoint.

Only one tough game with Monmouth. Other than that A&T should run away with the conference

In my humble opinion, playing a schedule of teams that can’t win a playoff game is not a recipe for winning playoff games. I think that has been proven. Additionally, don’t underestimate how difficult it may be getting a win in Pittsburgh in November if the Aggies are unfortunate enough that on their schedule, I was on the sidelines for the game at Morgan last year and them southern ninjas was more worried the cold than winning the game. FYI, it wasn’t cold. It was typical northern football weather. Moon Township is a totally different animal than Baltimore in November.  Those white boys love playing in that weather.

You might want to check out our future non conference schedules. We have tough FCS games each year to gauge where we are

Nah.  The only non-HBCU in that football slate worth a fart academically and competitively Is Campbell.  Basketball is a little better with High Point, Winthrop and Radford.  But hard pass.  Give me Morgan State and SC State any day over that.

I think we benefit from being aligned with Hampton and ya'll need to be with NC A&T.

We spent an entire generation not being ‘aligned’ with A&T.  We will be alright.   As for Howard, you’ve got Morgan down the road.  Build out that c rivalry.

DC to Charleston is geographic footprint half the size of Dover to Daytona (Old MEAC). This is why Big South needs to drop Robert Morris and Monmouth even IF they are a football power. It makes no sense for PA and NJ to be in the Big South.

A couple years ago on MEACfans I predicted we were heading towards an eventual MEAC - Big South merger. I don't know what it will look like but I think market overlap will force this to happen.

As Que82 said the issue was always about travel costs. Gong back to April of 2015 in a meeting in the Alumni Center the AD gave a breakdown that showed we could save between 500k to 800k annually on travel costs by moving to a more geographically friendly conference. As our AD said our goal was to be part of a true bus league. Monmouth and RMU will be football only so we'll still realize a huge cost savings. Consider these travel times.

Campbell University - 1.5 hrs
Charleston Southern - 4 hours
Gardner Webb University- 2 hrs
Hampton University - 3.5 hrs
High Point University - 20 minutes
Longwood University- 2 hrs
Radford University - 2 hrs
UNC-Asheville - 2.5 hrs
USC-Upstate - 2.5 hrs
Winthrop - 2 hrs

That's an average of only 2.5 hrs drive time and definitely fits our definition of bus league. In addition these are all day trips and would require no overnight accommodations unless it's a multi day event.
