Post by: bluedog on July 16, 2020, 05:51:27 PM
Due to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announcement of the cancellation of fall sports, both the Celebration Bowl and MEAC/SWAC Challenge are cancelled for the 2020 season. Ticket refunds will be available through Ticketmaster.

Statement from our Executive Director John Grant (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200716/eeeb99334c699e9f46c5abe226f55cc8.jpg)

well that was fast. Be nice if everyone has a spring season and then have the bowl in April or May.

That last line was pretty strong as well. Look forward to 2021

Not that i know of. It was a 6 year contract and no one has heard of the extention. I think one is coming. Mr Grant's statement was just interesting because he looking forward to next year.

Rumor mill says NCCU vs Alcorn in MEAC vs SWAC for 21.

2022 was supposed to be A&T vs Southern but that will have to be changed

I wonder how the lost revenue will effect the SWAC and its potential champion.

Winning the MEAC is not  carte blanche due to the exodus  of FAMU and A&T.  A void yes, but not a cakewalk to the MEAC championship or Celebration Bowl with the remaining members.  You got to want it, prepare for it , with all efforts toward  seizing it.  No rubber stamped winner prior to seasons completion. I hope NCCU takes the front but with history as a monitor nothing is a given in the MEAC.  Ask Morgan State who seemed to have A&T number for some reason.  Whether  FAMU / A&T left or stayed the championship has to be WON.  That is what I like about the MEAC. Despite preseason predictions (caveat emptor) there always were spoilers who didn't buy the supposed bandwagon rhetoric.   :nono2: We will be fine without those useless sayings.

I honestly think SCSU is about to win the MEAC for the next 2 to 4 years and watch their instution grow from the national attention and spotlight

????  I'm confused as to how this happens since there is nothing that highlights your champion except the CB and that will probably be 2022 at earliest.

Maybe, but my money is on NCCU owning this conference for a long time.
