Title: Christmas Music
Post by: Strike79 on December 20, 2019, 01:02:45 PM
???.......man, you guys are slipping.  Only five more days before the Big Day, and y’all ain’t said a damn thing about the music of the season. Oh, well, here is one of the cuts from, arguably, the greatest R&B  Christmas album ever recorded.  ;D

Most Christmas music is depressing. Some is nice.

^^^^VIOLENTLY disagree, most Christmas music is NOT depressing. Quite the opposite, it is beautiful, moving, spiritual and uplifting. What are you peeps listening to?

Well, based on the responses so far, interest in Christmas music is experiencing the SAME downward trajectory as Christmas cards. I guess y’all don’t do those either?

Well, I am NOT gonna let you clowns kill my spirit this holiday season.....”Joy to the world, the Lord is come......”

  thats right, Strike, DON'T LET NOBODY steal your joy!   I wouldn't say its depressing, overall, it just doesn't do much for me....however, there are A FEW that I like of the traditional Christmas joints, and the newer contemporary stuff is OK...but, I'm good.

BE JOYFUL, STRIKE. VERY JOYFUL...I AM.

.......ok, so I’m sitting in Shoney’s restaurant having a delightful lunch enjoying their salad bar. And contributing to this rather pleasant experience is that they are still playing holiday music over their intercom system. It appears the music service they subscribe to has not yet shifted away from the Christmas season.

How cool is THAT? A brutha is not usually satiated with Christmas music until around, say, mid-late January.  ;D

Poster’s note: I had to retrieve this topic from page 5 of this forum simply to make this^^^point. Prior to my post today, the LAST comment posted on this topic was 12/20, FIVE days before the freaking holiday. That fact, alone, clearly demonstrates the depths to which the quality of topics on this board has DEVOLVED in recent years. b   :(

??? Christmas music is a quality topic?? ???

???^^^why might it NOT be? We’ve discussed it in prior years. Perhaps I missed it, was the topic reviewed by some kind of onnidan standards board, and passed muster over your objection or something?

You have made your disdain for all things Christmas-related very clear. You have on more than one occasion decried what you perceive as the “pagan” origins of American Christmas traditions.

Ok, fine, we’ve heard you loud and clear.  ::)

You may now wish to regard this topic in the same manner that ALL peeps regard topics about which they have little to no interest. You simply ignore it.

Anyway.....to my dear, but clearly annoyed, Brutha soflo: Feliz Ano Nuevo!..........or is expressing New Year’s greetings rooted in paganism as well?

Don't knock Strike going to Shoneys.  I did IHOP yesterday and they played Christmas music.   At least it wasn't Huddle House.
