Title: FAMU v. NCAT
Post by: soflorattler on October 18, 2019, 02:23:35 AM
So y'all punked out because of a little rain and a breeze after y'all had us practice during a cat 5 hurricane to come up and beat y'all last year. In a flooded out facility at that. Y'all just trying to avoid catching that L.

  >:(..........my boy, soflo, is correct. Canceling the game is some bullshyt cuz the Rattlers are definitely on a roll.

But that old expression applies here, you can run but you can’t hide. Rattlers are kicking a.z.z this year no matter who we play, where we play, and when.

Fans of BCF have to be honest and ask themselves the following: Don’t we ALL feel better about ourselves when one of the MAIN BRANDS in all of BCF is balling so well?

That’s what I thought.  ;D

OFFICIAL: FAMU-NCAT Moved To Sunday

http://www.famuathletics.com/mobile/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=25300&ATCLID=211814533&fbclid=IwAR0ex136WEvF673c_zbGbEbkiR-MbBYCOkTfTAwRJ-E4MfczCaSst8GQMUY

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Florida A&M University football game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 against North Carolina A&T State has officially been moved to Sunday due to Tropical Storm Nestor. With the game being shifted to Sunday, kickoff from Bragg Memorial Stadium is now set for 2 p.m.

Members of Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T State, along with MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis Thomas, met on a conference call Thursday evening to discuss the possibility of moving the game to Sunday. The conference office and Florida A&M’s Department of Athletics officially confirmed the change in scheduling on Friday morning.

All tickets for the game that were purchased through the Florida A&M Ticket Office will be honored for Sunday’s game.

“Based on the latest information and projections we have received regarding Tropical Storm Nestor, we feel it was necessary to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” Florida A&M Director of Athletics Dr. John Eason said. “The safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans is paramount to any athletic contest and we must do our part to ensure their safety throughout the weather event.”

Florida A&M (5-1 overall, 3-0 MEAC) is coming off a thrilling 42-38 victory last Saturday at South Carolina State. The win snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Bulldogs and saw quarterback Ryan Stanley break the school career record for passing yards, surpassing Quinn Gray’s mark.

North Carolina A&T State (4-1, 2-0), which is ranked No. 10 in the STATS FCS Top 25 Poll and No. 11 in the FCS Coaches Poll, was off last week. The Aggies, the defending Black College Football National Champions, rolled past Norfolk State, 58-19, on Oct. 5.

The Rattlers are seeking their second consecutive win in the series after a come-from-behind 22-21 victory on Oct. 13, 2018.

Kickoff from Bragg Memorial Stadium is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday. Fans are encouraged to wear Pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month.

:nono2: 1) The game ISN'T cancelled. 2) The game has been move to Sunday at 2pm. 3) Your Athletics administration was very arrogant on the call concerning this game in not wanting to come to Tallahassee. 4) It's no secret that the FAMU Athletics program has had financial difficulties and it's prudent to not spend excess funds when there is no need. Just come take your medicine.

Congrats Rattlers.

Thanks, Aggie. The ref tried to give you guys the game, but it wasn't happening. What really messed y'all up is your team let the crowd get into their heads. Trying to go up in the stands and fight the students was not very smart. Then go into the locker room then come back out and try to fight the opposing players wasn't smart either. Washington need to get his team under control or he'll lose more games like that.

Not gonna front on this.....don’t have the packages that allows access to MEAC and BCF games. Did not listen to either of the schools’ radio network, and didn’t even log on this board while soflo was providing regular updates.

Just read everything posted on this thread beginning with the bottom of page 2. And didn’t do that until my homeboy called me after the game with the final. He said it’s been awhile since he saw Bragg rock like that. I’m sure soflo and others will agree.

Fellas don’t get all but hurt. It does seem like the block continues to run when the Rattlers are up and players go out of bounds or passes are incomplete. Maybe there is a malfunction with the clock. I know the old AD had some serious concerns with the condition of Bragg.

Reading is fundamental...

Real comment for FAMU PEEPS. I watched the game and y’all do have some funny business with the clock.  :nono2:

::) :nono2: The clock, downs, and yards to go are kept by the MEAC officials if you knew anything. Go beef with them. They did everything they could to give A&T that game trying not to be obvious, including the winning touchdown they called for review.

Come on Soflo, you're trippin. That's what y'all are known for. I will say this. When the clock ran on A&t's last drive in regulation it was the officials fault. He wound the clock when the A&T receiver clearly went out of bounds. The other ones were on the broken clock at Bragg.  :tiptoe:

Disappointed our 2 All Americans Mac McCain and Elijah Bell got tossed. Additionally I'm surprised they allowed the hype and circumstances of this game to get to them. As team leaders we expect better from them. More importantly they have to sit out the first half of homecoming game vs HU.  I'll consider this an isolated incident since we are generally a very disciplined football team. I'm sure the Chancellor will not accept any repeats of this behavior. I only saw the first half but rattlers I'm sure you are not without blame. Anyways I hope this doesn't detract too much from an otherwise hard fought heavyweight battle.

It's been 3 years since we've lost a road game to an FCS school so we have to shake this one off and get ready for GHOE.

Those aggies are always trying to fight us too.  Guess we will have to bring extra security to Greensboro next month.  Thanks Snakes!!!

The pregame antics

Your D coordinator bumped into Coach Washington on purpose which was part of the reason the halftime drama kicked off.

Your student section throwing items at A&T players , which is why they wanted to come into the stands.

???.......sir, with all due respect, having involved yourself INTENSELY in this matter between FAMU and the school from Greensboro, it is PROFOUNDLY disingenuous for you to now say that you will remove yourself from the fray and watch from the sidelines.

Like many other non-Aggie peeps on this board, you were clearly disappointed by the final results from beautiful Bragg Stadium. Not only that, your exchanges with my brutha soflo concerning “game clock” issues suggested an animus toward FAMU. You kept insisting that Rattler officials had engaged in improper behavior with the game clock, even after soflo REPEATEDLY informed you that Meac officials controlled the clock.

Don’t know what might be behind the “perceived” animus, but the exchange you had with soflo at page 5 of this thread is especially illuminating. There you stated: Come on Soflo, you’re trippin. That’s what y’all are known for.  Your humble poster’s antennae was raised with use of the word “y’all,” as that word implicates me and every other Rattler.

Might you kindly explain what you meant by, “That’s what y’all are known for”? And might you further explain why you were CLEARLY disappointed with the final results of the game?

Carter just had cramps. It looked like Stanley injured his arm or shoulder which I'm sure they will have to evaluate. Both QBs were balling and the back-ups gained valuable experience.

We must be that Team. No one else gets this type of attention after a game.
???......my dear sir, I just received information that the first game between FAMU and A&T was 1938. The schools have not played annually since that time, but have played for a total of 66 games. The overall record is 43-18-3, in favor of the Rattlers. And that does NOT include two W’s for the Rattlers that were vacated for NCAA sanctions.

So, NO!, you are NOT “that Team”. No doubt you and, perhaps, the majority of Aggies THINK that you are. But a few recent conference titles and national championships do not catapult you into being on FAMU’s level, one of, if not THE most celebrated team in ALL of BCF. You simply don’t have the glamour, sex appeal or cachet associated with FAMU.

You guys are delusional if you truly believe otherwise.

A&T coach Sam Washington apologizes after Aggies involved in scuffle at Florida A&M

https://www.greensboro.com/sports/college/ncat/a-t-coach-sam-washington-apologizes-after-aggies-involved-in/article_671409e6-098c-54dd-a65c-4bd63138dfa8.html

GREENSBORO — A&T football coach Sam Washington apologized to the university community today in his first comments since a scuffle broke out between the Aggies and Florida A&M at halftime of their football game Sunday.

"First of all, I just want to apologize to everyone," Washington said at the football team's weekly news conference. "And I promise you we will get this taken care of, and it will never happen again."

The teams were involved in an altercation as they went to their locker rooms at halftime of the Rattlers' 34-31 overtime victory in Tallahassee, Fla. Every player on both teams received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and players who had received such penalties in the first half were ejected from the game.

"I was in the process of doing an interview," Florida A&M coach Willie Simmons said after the game, according to reporter Rory Sharrock of the Tallahassee Democrat. "We tried to hold our team. Of course with the configuration of the locker room and sideline, we wanted to make sure A&T crossed and got in before we sent our guys."

"You hate to see that kind of stuff. That's not what this game is about. To have players get ejected and a coach in the second half. If there was a damper on this game, it was that.

"We have to be more disciplined than that. That's not the brand we represent. I'm pretty sure Sam Washington would say the same thing about his team."

A&T lost Mac McCain, Elijah Bell and Stephen Davis Jr. for the second half, and Florida A&M assistant coach Ralph Street, Tim Williams, Andrew Davis and Jalen Brayboy also were tossed.

A&T is awaiting word from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regarding any further penalties or whether any of the three players would be required to miss playing time during the homecoming game against Howard on Saturday at BB&T Stadium.

A&T folks treated the team like isht with the stadium accomodations. No lights in the fieldhouse, team had to dress in the dark, cold showers, wet fieldhouse floors, no police escort from the hotel to the stadium.

You act like our players didn't dress in the dark and had the same conditions. It was a hurricane. You act like power wasn't out over half of campus.

Why would A&T PD give you a police escort to the game from the hotel. This is Greensboro. We not in NY.

You mad about accommodations and our players were put in danger by your administration. FAMU purposely switched sidelines so we would be in front of the band and student section. That's why teams had to cross to get into the field house.

It's ok , you did what you had to do to get the psychological advantage. But you can stop with the playing holy stuff

Professor^^^you ain’t gonna let it go, are you, Big homie?

The game is over with boss. It’s time to get ready for the next opponent. And as you’ve already posted here or on another thread, the Rattlers are barred from representing the conference in the Celebration Bowl post-season. So your boys might play in that game, but they’ll play with AT LEAST one L on the record, probably more if they play as undisciplined as they did in Bragg on Sunday.

Oh, btw, you pups can always look forward to Homecoming, which you guys have dubiously labeled the GHOE. I’ve never had the opportunity to attend, but my suspicion is that, just like your football team, the GHOE is likely overblown as well.   ::)

Good luck................................. ;D

.........man, this was superb analysis. In lieu of what I’ve read and heard since the conclusion of the game, homeboy nailed it.

Good damn job.

Btw, when did the A&T football program become so thugged out?    :(

Those aggies are always trying to fight us too.  Guess we will have to bring extra security to Greensboro next month.  Thanks Snakes!!!

Lol i guess you forgot your players trying to hurt Brandon Parker in his last game. Or the NCCU D Lineman who tried to fight the ref and then grabbed his crotch on the way out

The man has a point here.

I'm done with it, but i'm not going to let someone label my university as thugs. That's some gas lighting, Donald Trump ish right there.  Some things are just wrong on principal.

Homecoming is going to be great. Try and downplay it, if you will. I know you all don't know what it's like to be the big show in town. It's ok.

What would you label one of players trying to go in the stands to fight somebody?

And don’t let me bring up 1989. AGAIN.  I was there sitting at floor level, but you jokers try to say I didn’t see what I saw.  Now THAT IS GASLIGHTING.

 ^^^Professor^^^the very first clause of your last post was negated by the last two sentences. You stated you were “done with it,” but then proceeded to take a shot at my yard at the end of your post.

But, seriously, you’re “partially” right about one thing you stated. I did not label the university as “thugs,” but DID use that pejorative to describe your ballers. And perhaps even THAT wasn’t cool. So I’ll retract that comment.

But, hey, look forward to attending my first GHOE. I even look forward to my first visit to Greensboro. I’m sure it’s a lovely community.  ;)

Anyway, I REALLY AM done with this thread. And that holds even if someone wants to come for me or anything else Orange and Green. At least it can be said that this contretemps provided a spark to the somewhat languid pace of the Sports page.

Look forward to engaging you in the Politics page, Big Professor. Unlike our exchange here, there you will likely find mostly concurrence on the issues we raise hell about in that forum.  :)

Strike bruh, I've been to Greensboro and that campus, and believe me, it's not a destination that I'm clamoring to return to. I have a brother-in-law that lives there and let's just say that I take a pass to go and visit.  :nono2:

???........ok, I’m breaking my pledge cuz mofos won’t leave me alone. Besides, it’s been a long time since I can enter the sports page and have something to talk about.  ;D

Now CU, you one of my absolute favorite posters on this board, but when you join those Puppies in coming after my boy, soflo, you can’t expect a brutha to sit quietly while soflo is getting “mauled” defending the Rattler brand and all.

A&T has had a pretty good10-year run in football, and I applaud them for that. But mofos need to be occasionally reminded who is Boss, not only in Meac, but BCF generally.

You’re an honest dude, and admitted that you were pulling for the canines in the game last Sunday. Ok, cool, you’ve got your reasons for that choice. It could be you were turned down for admission, or some Rattler took your woman back in the day, who knows?  But when mofos come after the orange and green, a brutha loses all sense of civility and propriety, and go straight up “Nashville street” on a mofo.

But it’s time for you and the pups to concentrate on the upcoming “alleged” GHOE. And since the opponent is General Howard’s school, I guess y’all will take out your frustrations on them. Especially now that Cam’s lil brother is no longer under center, having decided to “take his talents” elsewhere.  ::)

Oh, well, love ALL the peeps on this board. That is “All” save 2-3 notorious suspects.

Other than that..........we’ze cool.  :hugs:

Dude, you had no way of knowing it, but your humble poster is a HUGE Isaac Hayes fan. And this cut^^^^is one of my favorites. I guess the title is apropos, so I can’t get mad at you, Big homie.

And you KNOW you’ve put me in a box, because I have TREMENDOUS respect for Professor Washington, and can’t get mad at one of his pupils.

Say, Alum, I might wanna listen to that cut when I get home. Suggest 2-3 vinos that would compliment the vibes.   ;D

lew........appreciate the kind words.

Yeah, my respect for Booker T. Washington is sincere and profound. He was a man of tremendous accomplishments. And, by far, the most influential black man in this country in the dawning years of the 20th century.

I consider myself a mini-BTW scholar. And one of the absolute highlights in my life occurred around 10 years or so ago, when I was given a personal tour of “Oak Bluffs,” Prof. Washington’s home that is now a museum and situated on the Tuskegee yard......TRULY inspiring.

That may so, but continuing to cry about losing to a "lesser team" with better coaching isn't one of them. Take your own advice. "...let it go."
