In central Virginia 10-15 years ago only the rich private schools played LaCrosse. Now almost all public schools (except the intercity schools) play Lacrosse - both boys and girls. Apparently they are now better than the private schools at doing it.

Remember what happened to women’s college basketball once the power 5 gained interest.
