South Carolina State University's director of bands for the last 11 years has been hired to lead Allen University's new "Band of Gold" marching band in fall semester 2018. Expected to field 100 members, it will be the first marching band program at Allen in more than a half century.

Eminent bandmaster Eddie Ellis will join a host of talented musicians and professors engaged in public performances and leading student groups.

Crazy. You will invest your money in a marching band with no football team. These schools are barely open they putting their money in these unnecessary ventures. Look who their president is. McNiggah from Stillman. He almost shut down Stillman. LAWD HELP US! Just spreading the cancer.

that's all...    :brickwall:

Band is cheaper to have than football. And contrary to popular belief, there are students interested in band. It's a recruitment tool that is exponentially cheaper than football or expanding a sports program.

Yeah....I don't see this ending well for Allen. But whatever floats their boat. I'm just so glad my Alma Mater doesn't have this urge to throw money down the drain like so many other small HBCUs seem to have. 1000% pointless. Especially if the school next door to you already has a band...and an actual football team. Shade fully intended.

...good luck though.

This book chapter speaks to that...
