GREENSBORO (October 23, 2017) –
North Carolina A&T football is a top-10 program in both the media and coaches Division I-Football Championship Subdivision polls for the fifth time in program history.

The NCAA FCS Coaches and the STATS FCS Media polls were released on Monday. In the Coaches poll, the Aggies climbed five spots from last week to No. 6. The top team in the country is defending national champion James Madison (7-0). The Dukes are followed by North Dakota State (7-0), Jacksonville State (6-1), Central Arkansas (6-1) and Sam Houston State (6-1) in the top-5.

The Aggies have been ranked 25 straight weeks in the Coaches poll. The Aggies also jumped five spots in the Media poll to No. 7 behind No. 6 South Dakota (6-1). The top-5 of the media poll is identical to the Coaches poll.

I agree Decks, Its lofty praise and I think we are too high as well but its triggering the folks over an AGS and my petty is just too strong to not enjoy it a little bit...

Don't talk like that. Why aren't ya'll deserving to be ranked that high. Until someone beats ya'll who really knows how good you are? So, take the ranking and be proud of it. When one of our schools makes it to the top ten, its time for us all to support them... even if they are rivals.

I try to keep it real. Don't mistake that for me not supporting my team. I believe strength of schedule matters and the reality is we haven't played anyone with a record above .500. In addition we don't have Howard or Hampton on the schedule. That's not our fault but it's our reality. There's still a lot of football to be played and I think this Aggie team has a lot of room for improvement. If we keep winning perhaps that ranking will be justified at seasons end.

The Ram speaks the truth. They are fine with the rankings just as long as they are on top and we are in “our place”.

The same people that rank them rank us, so why aren’t we deserving of being ranked high. If they can’t deal with it, it’s on them. We sure as hell didn’t make the rules or control the rankings.

Like so many things this is about their feelings of superiority and complexes surrounding any challenges to it.

At the FCS level it’s two fold. They know nobody cares about their football teams. They got to be better than somebody. All they have is the playoffs and they cling to it.

It burns them up that our teams can get high rankings...play in sponsored nationally televised bowl games for big payouts...and we have said to heck with their system.

An HBCU being ranked high is a slap in the face for them because it reminds them of their true place in the college football world.

I say fugg them and the FCS playoff. If they could do something like the CB they would, but truth is they can’t. If some one wanted to sponsor the FCS playoffs like they do for the FBS playoff and bowl games they would...but they don’t.

They were saying the same thing about WSSU a few years ago. At first, we thought that there was no way we was that good. However, we started to believe and beating all those "deserving teams". Now we know what we are capable of. We just need to buy into the hype and it becomes real. When you tell people you are great, you become great.

heck, i luv my alma mater with all my heart.  but i'm kinda like decks, i keep it real.  we "are not" the 6th best fcs football team in america.  but polls are just that, "polls".  nothing scientific about polls.  they are primarily based on a team's record.  if we lose just 1 game, we'll drop like a rock in water.

but hey, i'm gonna enjoy this ranking while it lasts.  it helps our "national brand" a great deal, it increases that good ole "aggie pride", and it increases our athletic "donations and sponsorships".  but most of all, it improves our ability to "recruit".  it would also improve our chances of earning an "at large playoff bid" in the event we slip up in our final 3 ball games.

so there's a lot of benefits to being highly ranked, especially this late in the season.  but as far as defining who the absolute best teams are, polls are never a great measurement...

If the whole world didn't know that A&T wasn't the sixth best team in the country, they do now. The Aggies are telling everyone who can read this thread that they don't belong with the big boys. Wasn't it Broadway who told little DII WSSU to wear our Big Boy pants. The NCAA is letting ya'll try on those pants, but you don't want to wear them.

Some schools aren't meant for the big time.

The #6 team in the FCS poll doesn't have to beat #1, #2,#3 ,#4 ,#5 ,#7 ,#8 ,#9 and #10 teams in America to be FCS champions.  They only have to beat the one team they're scheduled to go against in round one, round two and so on.

I think Broadway's last few years have shown that when he has time to prepare against OOC competition (AND WE ARE WITHOUT INJURIES IN KEY POSITIONS), we win.  From year 3 onwards, Broadway either loses close or wins vs FCS OOC competition.

The Richmond game in the playoffs last year was an aberration; but again, we were down to our 3rd string QB.  We don't lose 39-10 with Raynard or Carter last year.  Is the #6 ranking lofty - maybe so....but you best believe an OOC coach on the opposite side of the field ain't chuckling when he sees A&T up next on the schedule.

Would probably be receiving votes by now had they not blown that Monmouth game at home.
