Paycut? Are you serious? As much as, Auburn would love to stick it to Alabama, why not go after their second in command to Tricky Nicky.

that's all... Huh?

Everything I've read or heard from the peeps down there is that they want a defensive minded guy who will bring toughness back to their football program. Auburn's defense has been a joke since Tubbs left. Even in the 2010 season Auburn was the worst defensive team in the modern era to win the national title. Every year since Chizik was the coach, Auburn has been ranked 68th or lower in total defense including being ranked in the 100s the last two seasons, and in the 90s in 2009. Auburn folks are tired of being pushed around.

Yes, he was from 2002 -2004, I believe before he took the job at Iowa State. The crazy thing is Iowa State was paying him $6.75 million guaranteed. He messed up when he let Malzahn and Roof leave and didn't control alot of the infighting amongst his assistants. Plus, it didn't help that he recruited very poorly. Look at what happened to the Dwyer kid and the player that got shot.

that's all...  Huh?

Recruited poorly? Man Chizik has had a top 10 class every year at Auburn. His problem is that he couldn’t develop players. Auburn had become the Bermuda Triangle of college football. It was the place where 4 and 5 stars went to never be heard from again.

Uhh...he was only there for three years and only had one top 10 recruiting class and that was when SCAM Newton was playing. And even then, the players he won the national championship was Tubbs players.

that's all...

Yogi

Was he the Defensive cordinator and head coach ?

I think Gene recruiting was similar to Ralph Friegden at Maryland on paper you have a top class however the players who are four star players or decorated high school players does not mean they will be good college players or they do not fit your program

Des, no, he wasn't. Ted Roof was the defensive coordinator. The same Roof that's the coordinator at Penn State. Exactly, on paper, Auburn looked good and like Fridge they were hot garbage once they played. It also didn't help when Auburn changed coordinators because Chizik wanted to run a similar style that Auburn was accustomed to in the past. That tough smash mouth, i-formation pro-style football. Malzahn ran a spread similar to what Urban Meyer had at Florida. So, when Malzahn left the qb they recruited for that style didn't translate well with the new coordinator they have now.

that's all... Huh?
