I have a Nokia that I've owned since 2002. SAME PHONE.

And my wife's Motorolla actually WAS made for the most part in Texas around the same time. Wink

I know... I'm a person who thinks you should use your cell phone for... hmm TALKING. I have computers for the rest of that stuff y'all pay out the ARSE for each month. Wink

Oh well, you stopped me dead in my tracks on this one. A 10 year old cell phone? Did they even make cell phones back then? Is it the size of a bread box?

Nah; Not so fast bruh. My phone actually WAS made in China. And yeah; they are both flip phones with 1 megapixel cameras.  Wink

Don't know if they used SLAVE LABOR back then or not... but If I HAD know that they did, I probably would have purchased something different.  shrug

iPHONE O5 is coming this June!

http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-5-launch-date-2012-2

that's all...

It's just a rumor...

All of these people are going to be bugging me now asking me " when is that I5 phone coming out?"

If its not from Apple, its not official. Why in the world would they have this come out when we are still selling so many current iPhone 4s phones already. Announcing this so early will slow up sales up until June.

If it was made in China 10 years ago, then it was almost certainly made under harsh conditions by someone. The Chinese gov. is doing better but they still have a ways to go. At the end of the day we have to ask ourselves the age old question, are we willing to pay more, make less in order to keep jobs? Throughout the history of mankind, people have always said no. This is why jobs moved from the north to the south. The labor was cheaper. I don't know if there is a way to stop this type of capitalism. The alternative is to have a government controlled economic system; al la China.

The American system, the American Government  and American consumer all play a role in outsourcing.

Lets back away from Apple for a minute and look at Wal-mart.  The place is packed most of the day. Why is that? We want the lowest prices. Are we willing to pay two to three times more for goods in order to pay American workers to produce them?  shrug

I am and do. I don't shop at Wal-mart. Period.

These analysists said we were. Getting an iPhone 4s last summer. Roll Eyes

I wouldn't expect another phone until the holiday season. Last year was so successful for us, I fully expect us to do it all again.

Now we got something really big coming down the pipe line that may be a game changer later on this year.

I use to try to support America GK, but I got tired of looking. Life got harder too, and it became a game of survival. Poor folk just want to live day to day. If China helps us to do that, then so be it. If I could travel to a foreign country for affordable medical care, and take money out of our doctor's pockets, would I do it? Yes. Why, I'm just trying to live and not pay everything I have to the medical establishment. You see how complex it gets. It's not poor folk who makes the difference anyway, it the rich folk. They are the one's jimmying the system to favor themselves and their profit ability. Poor folk are only a blip on the radar. Sadly Romney was correct yesterday, when he said the poor don't matter. In our system, we don't. The rich control, and the middle vote them in.

Actually the analyst were correct last year. They only missed the release date. There is a next generation iPhone in the pipe, it was not ready for prime time, therefore Apple released an intermediate 4s to hold the natives at bay a little longer. The 4s was not expected to be a smash hit but it was. The problem with the next iPhone 5 is the battery. Apple needs a better battery to power the LTE chip set. It was not ready for 2011 production. The new iPad will be an LTE device, and it is expected to be a little thicker to accommodate a larger batter. It's all about the processor's energy requirement.

Me neither.

I have SEEN Wal-Mart come into small communities and pretty much run all the local business into the ground with their low "Hencho en China/Fabrique en Chine" products and prices. Angry

Thing is, I DISTINCTLY remember how they used NAFTA to grab a market share with their PR campaign; "Made in America". Roll Eyes

I said TWO things in my previous reply to address your first sentence. Wink

ADDITIONALLY, I also said that MOST people don't know about Apple using a company guilty of SLAVE LABOR and that some folk wouldn't care even if they knew.

What we REALLY need is TRUE campaign finance reform, because it was big corporations that lobbied law makers in Washington to GIVE them tax breaks out the ying/yang to move manufacturing to Chine in the FIRST PLACE.  Angry

For products that COST the same to the consumer... but have a MUCH higher profit margin for the companies because of lower labor costs, NO environmental regulations, and subsidies GALORE  from the Chinese government.  thefan
