Great for him and his family. I think his contract was done and we Eagles wish him the best.

Mose Rison, a former Central Michigan University football player and assistant coach, is returning to the program as the new wide receivers coach.

It was announced by CMU head coach Dan Enos Wednesday that Rison has been hired to coach the Chippewas’ wide receivers group.

The coaching job became open when former wide receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield took the same role at the University of New Mexico.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mose back to CMU,” Enos said in a press release. “His passion for Central Michigan University and expertise coaching the offensive skill positions will make him an invaluable part of our coaching staff.”

Rison was a four-year letterman and a member of Central Michigan’s 1974 Division II national championship during his playing days. He still ranks 10th in school history with 2,838 career rushing yards.

He then began his coaching career at CMU, directing the special teams between 1981 and ‘88. He has since then spent time at Navy (1989-90), Rutgers (1991-95), Stanford (1996-2001), the NFL’s New York Jets (2001-02), Arizona (2003), Livingstone College (2004), Davidson College (2005), and North Carolina Central (2006-10).

At North Carolina Central, Rison first served as assistant head coach but was later named head coach in 2007 and led the program’s transition from Division II to the Division I FCS level. He spent three and half years as head coach, compiling a 16-22 record.

“First off, I want to thank coach Enos for this opportunity,” said Rison. “When it presented itself, I had to jump on it. I’ve been around the world and back coaching football so to speak and have coached a lot of great football players. I’m really excited to be back here and get started again.”

What Rison is also excited about is a receiver corps that combines both talented upperclassmen and underclassmen, a group that he will be able to mold this spring and into the fall.

Central Michigan will return almost all of its key receivers in the fall, led by senior-to-be Cody Wilson (48 catches, 526 yards). Titus Davis also showed flashes of brilliance during his 2011 freshman campaign, catching 40 passes for 751 yards and eight touchdowns.
“I went to the North Carolina State game when Central Michigan played down there and I was looking at those young wide receivers wondering who those guys were,” Rison added. “Watching those young wide receivers, I was saying wow to myself. We have some talent there, no question about it. From a coaching standpoint, I am very excited about the opportunity.”

EL-Cotton, I thought that all NCCU Bloggers to this story would wish Coach Rison well.  Why still try to kick him into a hole.  He's no longer at your mercy to wish him bad fate in his new acquire position.  What goes around comes back around.   Have some kind of class.  The Eagle is our National Fowl, don't bring your fellow Eagles down with negative threads.

EL-COTTON,

I agree with you.  This man was bad news for the NCCU football the day he became head coach.  If some of you non-NCCU people knew some of the things he did while at NCCU you would completely understand our frustration with Mose Rison.

Coach Rison was pretty much thrust into the HC position and may not have been totally ready for the job. And while he had his faults, he was not totally bad. There is no denying that he could develop a QB and he could recruit talent. And say what you want, Rison would play anyone...anywhere!

I think that one of his biggest faults was that he tried to do too much...OC, QB coach, play caller all while being Head Coach tooShocked And he has a stubborn streak which was his undoing.

Like I have said and will continue to say...his biggest problem was that his last name didn't start with a "B" and end with a "y".

And before we mention the injured player that he supposedly "didn't go see at all". That's not  all true and is not the total story. Rison cared about what happened to our players. I got that from some players, not from him.

Everyone is so ready to install Broadway into sainthood. But please don't forget that HE left US at a most crucial time. Give Rison this credit, and I'm done...he took on the challenge of our transition that Broadway was either afraid to, refused to, or was too arrogant to take on.

Thank you for your service and for putting up with us Coach Rison. All the best to you.

My nephew played for him.  I know a lot about what went on with him.  Good luck with Coach Frazier.
