FVSU not finished with its class

Head coach Donald Pittman and his staff still have to do a little waiting and seeing, but Fort Valley State is a bit ahead of schedule after National Signing Day.
The Wildcats signed 13 players as of early Wednesday evening with more expected Thursday and Friday.

Running back Jonquez Sanders of Taylor County is transferring from Eastern Arizona (junior) College. He had 11 carries for 84 yards in three games last season, according to the National Junior College Athletic Association website.
He was recruited a year ago by Western Carolina and Jacksonville State, among others. Sanders was a state-caliber sprinter in high school.

“The surprises would be this,” Pittman said. “We got two transfers from The Citadel, and we have three Hope Scholars.”
Running back Seth Hill and defensive end Marvon Danzie of Grovetown in Augusta traded the military school for the Wildcats.

We need D1 transfers on the lines and at LB. Pittman did a LLLLLLLLLLLLLL of job picking up RBs which is not a weakness. I think the lines needed to be improved. If the backs get some blocking, we might surprise some people this year.

Hill is the first signee at the new school. Holder said Hill's senior teammates Marvon Danzie and Dominique Mingo should go somewhere, but probably not at the Football Championship Subdivision level.

Hill rushed for 17 scores his senior season and more than 1,400 yards behind a young, inexperienced line.

Watch the Warriors' films, Holder said, and Hill's six touchdowns of 55 yards or more stand out.

Any more D1 transfers coming in?

The only D1 transfers I want to see coming in are on the lines. I would like to see two big, strong offensive guards and may be a good center. I want to be strong up the middle so when our RBs get the ball, they will not have to dodge defenders just to get to line.
On defense, I know we could use a big mean DT and good MLB. If we can find a great cover CB to boot, that will make my day. If we can get those needs filled, I believe with all my heart, we will give VSU and DSU all they can handle and then some.

After two season of playing football for Eastern Arizona Junior College, former Western High School star Dante Warren (6'1 225) will be taking his skills to Georgia to play for Fort Valley State.  Dante was a starting OLB and finish his soph year with 37 tackles and 2 sacks.
